Without any doubt, one could say that the film 'Aasai' is one of the well-crafted movies of the renowned director Vasanth. The movie was released on this day in 1995 and it is now celebrating its 27th anniversary. The film, which was remade in Hindi as 'Pyaar Zindagi Hai', is one of the most watched movies on television, thanks to its repeat-watch value.

Aasai still remains a favorite for the Tamil audience because of the effective emotional sequences and relatable family drama in it. Ajith fans are celebrating the milestone on social media and firing their reactions with tweets. It is undoubtedly a significant movie that paved a major breakthrough for Ajith's cinematic career.

It's interesting to note that Vasanth had originally intended to rope in Suriya for the movie to bring him to the industry in Ajith's role. But, Suriya turned it down, citing a lack of interest in pursuing a career in acting. Suriya later made his debut in 1997. Aasai was produced by Mani Ratnam and besides Ajith, the movie starred debutant Suvalakshmi, Prakash Raj, Rohini, Poornam Viswanathan, Nizhalgal Ravi, and Vadivelu in important roles.

It centers on his sister-in-law, who he has a serious crush on, and his attempts to sabotage her relationship with her boyfriend. Deva composed the music, and Jeeva handled the cinematography. The movie, which was released on September 8th, 1995, garnered favorable reviews and went on to become a financial success. According to official sources, director Vasanth wanted to try making "a good" family thriller with a potent antagonist. He wrote Prakash Raj's antagonist role using Avargal Rajinkath and Uthiripookal Vijayan as his sources of inspiration.

The movie successfully ran at the box office for about 200 days. The movie went on to take home three accolades at the Tamil Nadu State Awards, including the Best Male Playback Singer Award for Hariharan, the Best Music Director Award for Deva, and the Best Director Award for Vasanth.
