Tamil Nadu Opposition leader and former Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami has on Thursday admitted to a private hospital in Chennai for medical treatments. He was moved to the hospital for a follow-up procedure and he will be discharged in a day or two.

According to reports, Edappadi Palaniswami was admitted to MGM Hospital in Amjikarai, Chennai in the morning hours of Thursday - October 21. It must be noted that he had undergone hernia surgery this year in April, soon after the assembly polls, in the same hospital. After six months of surgery, he has now been admitted again to the hospital for a follow-up procedure in connection with the surgery.

The reports say that he will be undergoing an endoscopic procedure. He has been doing stable and will be under medication. The 66-year-old leader was admitted to the hospital on April 19, 2021, which had become his first hospitalization in his Chief Ministerial tenure. He was hospitalized for three days during that time and he also had undergone Covid-19 testing prior to the surgery as per the government guidelines.

While Edappadi Palaniswami has been hospitalized in Chennai, his colleague O Panneerselvam has been receiving treatments in Coimbatore. It has been reported that Panneerselvam has been undergoing Ayurveda treatment for the past five days in Coimbatore. As both the top leaders have been receiving treatments during the same time, the party functionaries and cadres have been extending their wishes to both of them for a speedy recovery.
