After PMK, ADMK goes for next...Senior Ministers meet DMDK Chief Vijayakanth!

Hours after completing the talks and reaching a deal with Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), ADMK has initiated the talks to reach out to the other parties that are in its alliance to bring a shape of the potent coalition. On Saturday, senior ADMK ministers had met DMDK Chief Vijayakanth at the latter's residence in Chennai and held a meeting over the seat-sharing for the assembly polls.

ADMK leaders including senior ministers Thangamani, Velumani, and the party's deputy coordinator Munusamy had met Vijayakanth on Saturday and officially prefixed the talks with the DMDK and the development has come when DMDK's treasurer Premalatha Vijayakanth has been flaying the ADMK leadership for ignoring the party from the alliance. Premalatha has been claiming that DMDK will contest the polls independently.

She even went on to voice in support of VK Sasikala in her bid to bring ADMK's negotiations to the table. However, ADMK wasn't keen on DMDK at the initial stage. Amid the dissent, the leaders from both the parties hadn't said that they would break up the alliance. As ADMK has launched its drive of forming a stable alliance, the ruling party had begun its talks with the allied parties, hours after the Election Commission of India announced the election date and the schedule.

On Friday, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora announced that Tamil Nadu will go to the polls on April 6 and the votes will be counted on May 2, during which the winner will be declared. With the state is just one month away from the assembly polls, top parties in Tamil Nadu have begun the talks with the allied parties for seat-sharing and finalizing the constituencies.

On Saturday, ADMK announced that it had made a deal with PMK and it had provided 23 seats to PMK for the upcoming polls and though the details of constituencies are yet to be finalized, it has been expected that PMK will contest in Northern districts of Tamil Nadu in the areas that are dominated by the Vanniyar community, which is the only voter base for Pattali Makkal Katchi. After reaching the deal with PMK, the ADMK leaders are in process of finalizing the seat-sharing with the BJP and DMDK.

While ADMK had decided to give 15 seats to BJP, the Central ruling party has been demanding more seats, making both the parties observe a deadlock. ADMK is still negotiating with BJP and the deal can end up with 20 seats and on the other side, the ADMK has begun reaching out to other parties in the allies, and in line with that, ADMK leaders had on Saturday met DMDK founder Vijayakanth.

The ADMK leaders had met Vijayakanth at his residence in Chennai during which they had discussed the seat-sharing and alliance. According to our sources, DMDK had demanded 25 seats in its bid to stay equal to PMK. However, the ADMK leaders hadn't given assurance and the ADMK's leadership has been planning to provide 15 seats to Vijayakanth for the assembly polls. The sources say that ADMK will complete the seat-sharing process with all the allied parties by next Tuesday and in the second week of April, the leaders of the alliance will launch their campaign trials.
