'Kantara', a blockbuster movie from Sandalwood town, has become India's biggest sensation in recent times. It has set a record in the box office collection after the production house's previous blockbuster 'KGF'. Numerous film stars and notable people including superstar Rajinikanth have praised the film.

In line with that, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has left a significant compliment for Kantara. The finance minister was in Bangalore during which she watched the movie, after which she said that Kantara was "well-made". The movie was an enormous financial success, becoming the second-highest-grossing Kannada movie of all time and the second-highest-grossing Kannada movie of 2022.

In the movie, actor Rishab Shetty plays a Kambala champion who is at odds with Kishore (DRFO police officer Murali) in the movie. Kantara was released on 30 September 2022, and recently, Superstar Rajinikanth touted the film, as he mentioned "no one could have said this better in cinema." Further to that, Nirmala Sitharaman took to Twitter, after watching the movie, and wrote, "With a team of volunteers and well-wishers watched #KantaraMovie in Bengaluru. Well made  @shetty_rishab  (writer/director/actor). The film captures the rich traditions of Tuluvanadu and Karavali".

Sharing the same, social activist Rajesh Padmar confirmed that she lauded the director, as his tweet reads, "Nirmala Sitharaman ji congratulated  @shetty_rishab over the phone and appreciated the movie." Produced by Vijay Kiragandur, Kantara is a second pan-Indian smash hit for Hombale films.

Both critics and moviegoers praised the cast's performances, especially those of Shetty and Kishore, as well as the direction, writing, production design, proper showcasing of the Bhoota Kola, action sequences, and technical aspects. Arvind S. Kashyap handled the film's cinematography, B. Ajaneesh Loknath composed the music score, and action director Vikram More choreographed the fight scenes. Dharani Gange Putra, a rookie, was in charge of the production design.
