Another Chief Minister tests positive for COVID-19, becomes the fourth CM in India!

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has, on Wednesday, said that he has tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection, becoming the fourth Chief Minister in India to confirmed to have contracted to the global pandemic following his counterparts of Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Haryana. 

All the four Chief Ministers belong to the states that are being ruled by the BJP. Goa Chief Minister said he has been asymptomatic and under isolation. He took to Twitter and broke the news on Wednesday that he has spelled positive for the viral infection and asked the people those who have come in direct contact with him in the last few days to take necessary precautions. 

In his message, Pramod Sawant said, "I wish to inform all that I have been detected COVID19 positive. I am asymptomatic and hence have opted for home isolation. I shall continue to discharge my duties working from home. Those who have come in my close contact are advised to take the necessary precautions".

 

The development has come a day after the Chief Minister convened a virtual meeting with the officers who are responsible for COVID-19 care centers in Goa. On Tuesday, he took stock and reviewed the functioning of the care centers and facilities in the state. 

According to Goa's Directorate of Health Services, the state has reported 18,006 cases so far as of September 1 of which 3,962 are active, 13,850 have been discharged, and 194 had succumbed to the viral infection. 

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivaraj Singh Chouhan was the first Chief Minister in India to test positive for the COVID-19 viral infection followed by Karnataka's Yediyurappa, and Haryana's Manohar Lal Khattar. Shivaraj Singh Chouhan and Yediyurappa had recovered from the virus while Khattar has been getting treated.
