Another shock for CSK fans: Harbhajan Singh won't be playing in the current season! Here's why

Even as the fans of Chennai Super Kings are still in a deep shock after Suresh Raina, one of the trusted lieutenants of MS Dhoni, had suddenly exited from the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), they are now endured to brace up for yet another shock after spinner Harbhajan Singh had said that he would stay out from the team for the current season, leaving the fans to ask what's happening in the Dhoni's fleet, which is one of the star teams in the IPL.

Harbhajan Singh is one of the significant players in the team and being the lead spinner, his participation has become crucial for the team. However, his announcement of exiting from the current season had worried the team, shocked the fans, and borne the management of the team to find a perfect replacement for the spinner.

On Friday, the spinner told PTI that he has pulled out of the IPL due to personal reasons. He said that he had conveyed his decision of exiting the team to the management on Friday.  His decision has come two weeks ahead of the commencement of the current season, which would be hosted by the United Arab Emirates from September 19.

Taking to Twitter after his decision, Harbhajan Singh said, "Dear Friends I will not be playing IPL this year due to personal reasons. These are difficult times and I would expect some privacy as I spend time with my family. @ChennaiIPL CSK management has been extremely supportive and I wish them a great IPL Stay safe and Jai Hind".

Earlier, Harbhajan Singh had missed the training session of the team that held in Chennai, prior to leaving for Dubai, by citing personal reasons. He wasn't in the list of players who traveled to Dubai from Chennai on August 21 and it was said that he would be joining the training session soon. However, the spinner has now announced that he has decided to skip the entire current season due to personal reasons.

His decision has come on the same day when the men in yellow had started the training session. Earlier, the training session had deferred after some of the players and staff members of the team had tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection. CSK CEO Viswanathan has, on Friday, said that the training has started. Apart from 13 members who had tested positive for the pandemic, all others had tested negative for the third time.

He added that members who have tested positive will be tested after two weeks when their isolation period gets over.  On August 29,  Viswanathan put out the news that Suresh Raina will not be playing in the current season and has returned to India due to personal reasons. While initially Raina's exit was said to be due to personal reasons, the development later emerged with the reasons behind his exit including his disappointment that he wasn't allotted the room as like MS Dhoni in Dubai, the demise of his uncle in Punjab, and the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Suresh Raina's disappointment against Dhoni had stirred a row and revealed the grounds of the emergence of the revolt. However, CSK's Chairman Srinivasan asked Raina to consider his decision as he would be facing a huge loss by skipping the current season. While Raina had exited the season, it was speculated that Harbhajan Singh would also skip the season due to personal reasons and now he has confirmed that he will be opting out from the current season.

With just two weeks away, the team is pushed to have a perfect replacement for both the star players as Dhoni's fleet has started training in the Arab nation, which will be hosting the game in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi. It must be recalled that MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina had on August 15 announced one after the other that they are retiring from the International cricket.
