'Appoint Udhayanidhi Stalin as the Deputy Chief Minister': A letter from a Congress leader to MK Stalin!

As MK Stalin's administration progresses further, it has seemingly been cementing the second-line leadership both in the party and the government. What had been behind the screens is now coming to front apparently and has been lighting up more speculations over Udhayanidhi Stalin's innings in the government. Besides serving as the DMK's Youth Wing Secretary, Udhayanidhi Stalin has been representing the Chepauk-Triplicane constituency in the current assembly.

Our sources have said that Udhayanidhi's elevation has been under making for the past few months and Stalin's close circle, including his family members, have demanded Udhayanidhi's induction into the direct governance. As he is also busy in his career in the cinema industry, there are talks that Tamil Nadu may see him as a Minister around next May or June, after MK Stalin's one year in the office. Amid such talks that grow with more conjectures, a letter from a Congress leader to MK Stalin has now become the talk of the town.

What has caught more attention is that the Congress leader has suggested MK Stalin appoint his son Udhayanidhi Stalin, not as a minister, but as the Deputy Chief Minister, a post which MK Stalin has held under his father Karunanidhi's regime. According to reports, RS Rajan, the general secretary of the agricultural wing of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, has written to Chief Minister MK Stalin in which he had recommended the latter to provide the post of Deputy Chief Minister to Udhayanidhi Stalin.

A letter from a Congress leader advocating for Udhayanidhi Stalin has come when there has been a voice of dissents over DMK- Congress alliance after the state ruling party's flawed approach towards the national party during the time of rural local body elections and that dissents may go high in the upcoming urban local body polls. The reports say that the state Congress unit hasn't immediately reacted to the letter from the Congress leader to the Chief Minister. It is pertinent to note that the demand for elevating Udhayanidhi Stalin is not new and will keep pouring in the future.

Earlier this month, Udhayanidhi's friend Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, who is Tamil Nadu Minister of School Education, has said that Udhayanidhi must become a minister as his dedication to serving people shouldn't be contained to a particular constituency and it must reach the whole state. The demand from the DMK Minister has come when celebrating Udhayanidhi's birthday. While addressing the event in Chennai, Anbil Mahes Poyyamozhi said that it's not only his desire to see Udhayanidhi as a minister but it is also the wish of everyone including the voters in the Chepauk-Triplicane constituency.

He said that Udhayanidhi's talent and dedication to serving people shouldn't be contained to a particular constituency, rather it should be used for the entire Tamil Nadu. He said, "Udhayanidhi should get a post that will be celebrated by all the 234 constituencies." Recently, DMK Rajya Sabha MP Rajeshkumar has sworn into his post in the Parliament and while swearing-in, Rajeshkumar had hailed MK Stalin and Udhayanidhi Stalin for giving him the opportunity to serve in the upper house. The incident had stirred controversy with several DMK veterans and political activists reacting against it by stating that Rajeshkumar should have avoided mentioning Udhayanidhi's name in the Parliament.
