Tamil Nadu BJP leader H Raja has been facing trouble from a case that was filed against him in 2018. Showcasing that how the case still haunts him, the Srivilliputhur court has on Thursday issued an arrest warrant for the BJP leader in connection to the case, under the grounds that he has been evading the probe.
According to reports, Hindu Munnani had organized an event that was held in 2018 in the Dindigul district. The then BJP's National Secretary H Raja had taken part in the event and during his address, he had allegedly made derogatory remarks against the authorities of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department and their family members. Raja was accused of airing obscene remarks against the women who belong to the family of the authorities.
As the matter had sparked outrage, Hariharan, the Assistant Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department had filed a complaint against H Raja in Virudhunagar Bazar Police station in 2018. Based on that complaint, the police had filed a case against H Raja for his controversial remarks and the matter has been heard by the Srivilluputhur Court in Virudhunagar.
The court had already issued summon to H Raja directing him to appear for the hearing. However, the BJP leader had skipped the summon and invited trouble. The matter came to the hearing on Thursday before the bench headed by Justice Paramveer and as Raja had again skipped the summon and evaded from cooperating with the probe, the Justice had issued an arrest warrant against Raja.
Raja, a controversial political figure in Tamil Nadu, has already been under judicial watch as he has been facing the charges of making derogatory remarks against the Madras High Court. Meanwhile, hours ahead of receiving an arrest warrant, H Raja had received a surprise from the BJP Central leadership as he has been roped in as a special invitee for BJP's National Executive Committee along with actor-turned-politician Khushbu Sundar. Former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan has been inducted as a member of the high-level committee, which draws the party's agenda.
