Babies born during lockdown, the Indian couple named them 'Covid' and 'Corona'!

The couple in Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh, has welcomed their newborn twins amid the complete lockdown and since the babies were born when the nation is fighting against the Coronavirus outbreak, the parents have named them as 'Covid' and 'Corona'.

While the names bring more anxiety and fear among the people across the world as the global countries are waging a war against the global pandemic, for this Indian couple the names would mark and symbolize triumph over the prevailing peril and hardship as the twins - a boy and a girl have come to earth amid the nationwide lockdown that has been imposed by the Central government to curb the spread of the virus.

According to the couple, the names would imply and remain them about the burden they overcame in the middle of the lockdown, that has disturbed the lives. The babies were born on the intervening night of March 26-27 at the government hospital in Raipur. 27-year-old Preeti Varma, the mother of the newborn babies said that the boy was named Covid while the girl will be called Corona. She added that the couple wished to make the day memorable as the delivery happened after facing more difficulties. However, the couple said that they may change their decision later and rename the babies.

The couple belongs to Uttar Pradesh and they are currently residing in a rented house in Purani Basti in Raipur and the twins were born in Dr. Ambedkar Memoral Hospital. According to the Public Relations Officer of the hospital, the mother and the newborns got discharged recently and they remained in good health. 

The delivery was done successfully within 45 minutes of their arrival at the hospital. Preeti Varma said that on the night of March 26, she developed severe pain and was taken to the hospital through ambulance and the vehicle was stopped by the police at the various places amid the lockdown and they the vehicle to pass after understanding the condition. She added that the doctors and nurses were cooperative even in midnight.
