The current edition of the Olympics, hosted by Tokyo, is getting close to its end, and on Thursday, it has hit its thirteenth day, and India, which has sent one of the largest contingents to the Japanese capital with significant participation of women hasn't put a magnificent show as the campaigns of some of the most expected victories had eventually failed with the country still yet to open its 'golden account.

The Indian contingent has 127 athletes from champions, experienced players, and young talents. In what has become a promising precedent, India has a mix of 56 women and 71 men representing the country. Thursday has been a big and remarkable day for India at the Tokyo Games with back-to-back medals and milestones. It was a historic start and end of the day for the Indian fleet as it has ended the day by adding two more medals to its tally.

Day 13 was a mixture of great and tricky for India, as the Hockey team made a marvellous history but wrestling events and the 20km Race walk event made a slippery result. Let's take a look at how India had ended Day 13 at the Tokyo Olympics.

India's state on Day 13 of Olympic Tokyo 2020:

Indian history has been re-written! The dream of winning a medal has been accomplished. India defeated a plucky Germany 5-4 to win the bronze in an edge-of-the-seat play-off match of the ongoing Games on Thursday. This is the victory for our Indian National game.  Simranjeet Singh (17th) scored a pair, while Hardik Singh (27th), Harmanpreet Singh (29th), and Rupinder Pal Singh (31st) were the extra goal getters.

On the other side, Vinesh Phogat Olympic campaign will end in another heart-breaking exit as earlier India's Anshu Malik lost her repechage to Russia's Valeria Koblova, the Rio Olympics silver medalist. However, Vinesh Phogat won her opening round beating Sofia Magdalena 7-1. But in a shocking result, Phogat was defeated by Vanesa Kaladzinskaya of Belarus in the last 8 bouts.

Vinesh Phogat, who was a gold medal contender for India at the Tokyo Olympics 2021, will now return from the mega event without a medal.  Even though Ravi Dahiya claims a silver, losing in the final of men's 57 kg, Deepak Punia lost his bronze medal match (freestyle wrestling 86kg) in the dying seconds to San Marino's wrestler Myles Amine. Another massive drawback for today was KT Irfan, Sandeep Kumar, and Rahul had a disappointing show in the men's 20m race walk.

Sandeep took 1:25:07 to finish the race at the 23rd spot while Irfan was the disappointing of the lot as he took 1:34:41 to finish the race. Rahul finished on 1:32:06. Meanwhile, Golfer Aditi Ashok carded a flawless five-under 66 and is tied second on nine-under 133 with Danish duo, Nanna Koerstz Madsen (64) and Emily Kristine Pedersen (63). As India has ended the day by bagging two medals and writing glorious history, the country currently stands at the 65th spot on the Olympic medals tally.

India has won five medals so far as of Thursday - Mirabai Chanu (Silver - Weightlifting), Ravi Kumar Dahiya (Silver- Wrestling), PV Sindhu (Bronze- Badminton), Lovlina Borgohain (Bronze - Boxing), and the Indian men's hockey team which won the Bronze medal.
