Back to back rejections: Bail is not yet in sight for Aryan Khan! Here's his next battle

For Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan, the bail is far away from sight as he continues his battle and incarceration in Mumbai, which levies more tension on the Bollywood actor. In what has become back-to-back rejections, a special NDPS court in Mumbai has on Wednesday rejected bail plea moved by Aryan Khan and two others - Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha in the drugs case that was filed against him as the sequel of the raids conducted by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

They had sought bail from VV Patil, the special judge for cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. According to reports, during the earlier bail hearing, Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh, who had appeared for NCB, had made a claim that there was evidence to prove that Aryan Khan had frequently consumed drugs for the last few years. Reaffirming that the case is strong against them, Singh said that the drugs that were seized from Arbaaz Merchant at the docks were meant for consumption by both Aryan and him.

During the hearing, the NCB has also said that Aryan had been in contact with members of an international drug racket. Rebutting NCB's claim, senior advocate Amit Desai, representing Aryan Khan, has said that the anti-drug agency has pointed to an international drug racket. However, the chain is complete if the consumer states from where he procured drugs. By asserting that the agency can continue the probe, Desai said that the allegations of links to an international drug racked against Aryan Khan are false. He added that the NCB itself had alleged that Aryan disclosed the name of Achit Kumar, who is another arrested accused.

However, NCB has claimed that it has strong evidence from Aryan Khan's WhatsApp chats that he had links with international drug dealers and had consumed drugs for years. Responding to this accusation, Aryan Khan's lawyer has said that the 23-year-old son of the Bollywood actor had lived overseas for some time and there are things that are legitimate in other countries. After the hearing, the court had adjourned the hearing and reserved the order for October 20.

On Wednesday - October 20, when the hearing on Aryan Khan's bail plea has resumed, the development had drawn national attention over the court's verdict. After the proceedings, the court has rejected the bail plea and said that his WhatsApp Chats reveal he was indulging in illicit drug activities. Aryan will continue counting his days in prison. While Aryan Khan and Arbaaz Merchant are lodged at Arthur Road jail, Dhamecha has been lodged at Byculla women's prison in the city.

According to PTI, after the special court has rejected his bail petition, Aryan Khan has approached the Bombay High Court to seek bail, as his next battle for bail. Aryan Khan and seven others were arrested by NCB on October 3 and he has been named as the Accused No 1 in the case. The arrest was made after an NCB team, led by its zonal director Sameer Wankhede, had conducted a raid, based on a tip-off, in a rave party on board Cordelia Cruise that was en route to Goa from Mumbai. The team had raised the cruise ship, seized drugs, and arrested Aryan Khan and others, who were at the rave party, under the grounds of possessing the drugs.

They were arrested on October 2 and Aryan Khan was lodged in the Arthur road jail on October 8. His battle for getting bail has been going in vain as his bail pleas were rejected several times, following which he had now approached the Bombay High Court. It must be noted that Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan had spoken to their son Aryan Khan on video call last Friday. However, they hadn't made any public statement concerning the arrest of their son. On the other hand, the drugs case had also sparked a political debate as the Maharashtra government had accused NCB of chasing specific individuals on orders from the Union government.
