According to PTI, quoting BCCI sources, "BCCI President and former India captain Sourav Ganguly admitted to hospital after testing positive for Covid-19." The iconic batsman was taken to a private hospital in Kolkata late on Monday night as a precautionary measure after his RT-PCR test report came positive, confirming that he had contracted the pandemic.

PTI further said, "He was taken to Woodlands Nursing Home last night. He has been given medication and is currently stable." The 49-year-old BCCI President has fully been vaccinated and he has been travelling across and beyond India for cricket tours. He has shown mild symptoms for Covid-19 and this is the third time that Ganguly has been hospitalized this year. He was admitted to the hospital twice and underwent emergency angioplasty after suffering from cardiac issues.

He had suffered a heart attack while exercising at his Kolkata home, which prompted him to undergo a right coronary angioplasty. 20 days later, he had complained of a similar chest pain, which led him to undergo a second round of angioplasty and his previous hospitalizations were during January this year. It must be noted that his elder brother Snehasish Ganguly had also tested positive for Covid-19 early this year.
