On September 6, Ponniyin Selvan's long-awaited audio launch was finally eventuated, and since then, the internet hasn't stopped raving about it, and social media users worldwide have been sharing their favourite tracks from Manirathnam's magnum opus. This was the fifteenth and momentous collaboration between Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman.

The most recent compliment came from Director Selvaraghavan, who tweeted a post praising Ponniyin Selvan's music album. Music lovers from all over the world have been touting the album, which was mastered by Isai Puyal A.R. Rahman. Lauding the music album as the best album in his experience without any doubt, Selvaraghavan took to Twitter and wrote, " "The best music album in my experience is without doubt @arrahman and #maniratnam sir’s Ponniyin Selvan! The attention to detail in even the minutest sounds is astounding!".

Extending his gratitude to Selvaraghavan, A R Rahman replied to the former's tweet and wrote, "Thank you, Selva." Tips has acquired the film's audio rights. Six original songs by A.R. Rahman, including "Ponni Nadhi," "Chola Chola," "Ratchasa Maamaney," "Sol," "Alaikadal," and "Devaralan Aattam," make up the soundtrack.

In the Tamil version, the song's lyrics were written by Ilango Krishnan, Kabilan, Krithika Nelson, and Siva Ananth; in the Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada versions, they were written by Mehboob Kotwal, Ananta Sriram, Rafeeq Ahamed, and Jayanth Kaikini, respectively.

Notably, Selvaraghavan's Naane Varuven, starring Dhanush, got released on September 29, a day ahead of the release of Ponniyin Selvan. Similar to Manirathnam's preferred musical collaborator Rahman, Selva's desirable composing partner was Yuvan Shankar Raja. Interestingly, they both collaborated for more than twenty years, from Thulluvadho Ilamai in 2002 to Naane Varuvean in 2022.
