Big cheers for India: Potent and Victorious Sindhu successfully enters Semifinals with no single defeat at Tokyo!

It's a moment of Bravo for India as PV Sindhu has successfully entered the semifinals of the women's individual badminton competition in the Tokyo Olympics on Friday. The young Indian champion has defeated Japanese Akane Yamaguchi in straight games and reserved her place in the semifinals as she has been inching closer to a medal in her second consecutive Olympic tournament.

Sindhu is one of the promising athletes in the Indian contingent and has been delivering a tremendous performance since her first game. Her exultation and prowess in building a winning momentum were strongly evident in her plays at the Tokyo games and she has now made her country cheer after entering the semifinals and becoming another example of displaying women's dominance in the Indian contingent in the Olympics.

On Thursday, Sindhu had made the country proud after she topped the women's singles quarterfinals with a straight-game triumph over Denmark's Mia Blichfeldt. As she has defeated Japan's Yamaguchi on Friday, she has entered the semifinals and the more elevation is more close to the medal. Friday's match had lasted for nearly an hour and despite an intense fight from her Japanese opponent, Sindhu had maintained her composure and won the first game 21-13.

Sindhu's fight with Yamaguchi was tough in the second game but Sindhu has eventually won the game 22-20 post which she was declared the winner of the match. This has marked Sindhu's 4th consecutive straight games victory in the Tokyo Olympics as she has not lost a single game in this tournament. As she has been getting advanced to the next stages, Sindhu will play her semifinals match on Saturday- July 31st against the winner of Ratchanok Intanon vs Tai Tzu Ying match.

Friday's match was held at the Musashino Forest Plaza Court and if she wins the semifinals on Saturday, Sindhu will be reserving another medal for India, becoming the third woman athlete to assure the medal. With the remarkable victory, Sindhu's triumph has been getting celebrated in the country with several leaders wishing her for the semifinals. Union Minister Anurag Thakur took to Twitter and wrote, "Such a thrilling match PV Sindhu. India storms into the Semi-Finals. Superb Game!".

It must be noted that Sindhu has won the Silver medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics and she has lifted all three medals in the World Championships, Asian Games, and Commonwealth games. As she currently stands as the World number 7, Sindhu has 344 wins and 148 losses in her decade-long career and as she is moving closer to reserve a medal in the Tokyo Games, it is no doubt that India will witness nailbiting moments and tensions on Saturday's semifinals.

If Sindhu wins, she will be confirming the medal for India and would probably become the third Indian to win a medal in the Tokyo games. Earlier on Friday, Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain has assured a second medal for India after her impressive victory in the 69kg women's boxing competition. A native of Assam, 23-year-old Lovlina has defeated Nien-Chin of the Chinese Taipei 4:1 and confirmed her entry into the semifinal by assuring a second Olympic medal for India. Though she is now assured of at least a Bronze, the race isn't over as she holds a bright prospect of winning a Gold medal, and if she does, she would probably become the first to win Gold for India in this current edition of the Olympics.

Lovlina's semi-final bout is on August 4, where she will face Turkey's world number one boxer Busenaz Surmeneli. With Lovlina's remarkable feat, India is assured with two medals and both of the medallists are from the Northeastern states. India's weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, who is a native of Manipur, has won a Silver medal last week and it has become the first medal for India at the Tokyo games and now, Lovlina, a young boxer from Assam, will win a second medal for India and we have to wait for four more days to spectacle Lovlina's medal battle.
