Big shock to Simbu fans: Maanaadu is out of Diwali race! Here's why and what's the new release date!

In what has become big shocking news for the ardent fans of Simbu who were preparing to celebrate Diwali with the actor's 'Maanaadu', the movie team has on Monday announced its exit from the Diwali race and put out a new release date. The announcement that came from nowhere had pushed the fans to keep their wait for one month even as the movie has already been baked to hit the screens.

The announcement has come three weeks ahead of Diwali and a month after the movie was slated for Diwali release. The movie team has said that the decision of postponing the release was taken with the view of avoiding the race with Superstar Rajini's 'Annaatthe' which could affect the reception of Maanaadu and disrupt commercially. It has also been reported that besides Annaatthe, Vishal-Arya's 'Enemy' will also hit the screens during Diwali and the race has been intense as the theatres expect a healthy comeback from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Maanaadu producer Suresh Kamatchi and director Venkat Prabhu took to Twitter and announced the news and said that the movie will now be getting released on November 25, three weeks after Diwali. Earlier, it was slated for a release on November 4 and in a statement on Monday, the producer said that the distributors and theatre owners could incur huge losses if Maanaadu would join the release of Annaatthe and Enemy, due to which the release has been postponed.

Director Venkat Prabhu shared the statement on Twitter and wrote, "Our deepavali is pushed to 25th November!!." The shooting of the movie was wrapped in Tamil Nadu in this July post which the team had begun the production work to release the movie and earlier last month, the movie poster with the Diwali release was unveiled. However, the movie release has now been deferred amid several postponements previously in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Maanaadu has become one of the much-anticipated movies of Simbu as the movie is inching closer to the release after the episodes of controversies, setbacks, and external crises. In his statement, Suresh Kamatchi has said that he is very happy with the way the film has shaped out and has no doubts that it will do well even on the grounds of intense competition. He added that the decision of deferment was taken by keeping in mind various stakeholders including distributors who might face losses due to limited allotment of theatres.

Maanaadu is a political action thriller film. Bankrolled by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner of V House Productions, the movie is helmed by Venkat Prabhu while Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music. Richard M Nathan and KL Praveen had done cinematography and editing respectively. While Simbu plays the lead role, SJ Suryah, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Bharathiraja, SA Chandrasekhar, Karunakaran, Premgi Amaren, Anjena Kirti, Manoj Bharathiraja, Aravind Akash, and Ravikanth had played important roles.
