Big shock to Suriya fans: Is the release of 'Etharkkum Thunindhavan' getting deferred?

In a shocking piece of news to Suriya fans, the movie team of the actor's upcoming 'Etharkkum Thunindhavan' has decided to defer the release owing to the pandemic spread. The movie has been slated for a theatrical release on February 4 and as handful movies got their release postponed, Etharkkum Thunindhavan will the joining the club of the deferred movies if the movie team officially announce the postponment. 

For actor Suriya, who has been opting the OTT release at the backdrop of the pandemic and lockdown, Etharkkum Thunindhavan will be the first movie in the post pandemic world to get released on theatres. Due to the big release, the movie team and fans are excited for the release, which is now been spoiled by the soaring Covid cases across and beyond Tamil Nadu. 

According to reports, the movie team has decided to postpone the release as the Tamil Nadu government has reduced the theatre occupancy in its Covid guidelines and restrictions. The sources in the know have said that the government may order to close the theatres soon in light of more cases and the movie team has come to a sense that releasing the movie during these testing times would affect it commercially. 

As Etharkkum Thunindhavan has been produced by Sun Pictures, it is less likely that the production house will go for a direct OTT release. The release will be deferred but the movie will stick to its stand of a theatrical release. Some reports say that the movie team has decided to release the movie at the end of February instead of the first week. The clouds of possible deferment have surrounded the cinema industry when the movie has got more expectations from the fans and audiences and lyrical videos of certain songs have also been released. 

The movie has been certified with U/A tag on Tuesday and while it is bankrolled by Sun Pictures, Etharkkum Thunindhavan has been helmed by Pandiraj. While Suriya plays the lead role, Priyanka Arul Mohan, Vinay Rai, Sathyaraj, Rajkiran, Saranya Ponvannan, Soori, MS Bhaskar, Jayaprakash, Subbu Panchu, and Redin Kingsley play important roles. D Imman has composed the music and Rathnavelu and Ruben had done cinematography and editing respectively. It must be noted that the movies like RRR, Valimai, and Radhe Shyam had deferred their release due to the Covid spread.
