Big surprise for MK Stalin...MK Alagiri wishes his brother for becoming the Chief Minister!

Former Union Minister and expelled DMK leader MK Alagiri has finally congratulated his younger brother MK Stalin for becoming the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Alagiri's wish has come a day ahead of Stalin's swearing-in as the next Chief Minister and it has drawn significant attention across the state as the DMK members hope that the tussle and the estranged relationship between the brothers will come to an end soon.

MK Stalin will be taking oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Friday - May 7 at Raj Bhavan, Chennai after securing a landslide victory in the recently held Tamil Nadu assembly elections. As Stalin is going to sworn-in as the Chief Minister for the first time, he has been flooded with the wishes of the national leaders and celebrities for the historical milestone in his political career. In line with that, his elder brother MK Alagiri has congratulated him.

On Thursday, Alagiri had expressed his wishes which had come as a surprise for MK Stalin as it was his elder brother who asserted that he would not become the Chief Minister. Alagiri's wish has raised many eyebrows across and beyond the party when the party is witnessing the brotherly rival between both of them which was escalated after the demise of their father DMK's patriarch Karunanidhi. The brothers and their respective families had cut ties and estranged for the past few years.

While MK Stalin resided in Chennai, Alagiri settled in Madurai, where he once had a stronghold in DMK as the party's head of South Zone till 2014. The tussle between them had started in the race of upholding their powers in the party. As the sequel of the escalation of tensions between them, then DMK President Karunanidhi had expelled Alagiri from the party in 2016 due to anti-party activities post which he began losing his grip over his stronghold.

Stalin was then made the Opposition leader of Tamil Nadu, acting President of DMK and after the demise of Karunanidhi in 2018, the party has unanimously elected MK Stalin as its president. These developments had in fact widened the tussle between the brothers and Alagiri's supporters had claimed that the expelled leader will work against his younger brother in the 2021 assembly polls. When Stalin was getting ready for the polls, there were several speculations around MK Alagiri over his political resurgence.

MK Alagiri was surfaced with the anticipations that he will launch a new political party against MK Stalin's DMK in the assembly polls. Alagiri was in the political spotlight over his statements where he asserted that he would be definitely playing a role in the 2021 state assembly polls to work against his younger brother. Alagiri has also said that he was planning to meet Rajinikanth, when the latter didn't announce his political decision and Alagiri was also on the radar of the BJP, which thought of inducting him into the party against the DMK.

Earlier in January, he had met his supporters to decide the political entry and during the meeting, Alagiri said that MK Stalin will never become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and he also claimed that he will never allow Stalin to become the Chief Minister. He went on to say that Stalin will forever remain as a future CM. However, his predictions and speculations around him didn't happen as he neither launched the party nor stopped Stalin from becoming the Chief Minister.

MK Stalin will be swearing-in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Friday on Thursday, Alagiri congratulated Stalin by saying that he is proud of his brother. In his message, Alagiri said, "Congratulations to my younger brother MK Stalin. I'm proud of my brother who is going to become the Chief Minister. DMK President Stalin will definitely deliver a good rule." Alagiri's wish has garnered major attention with several DMK members say that the hope is in sight that the brothers will break the tussle and unite again. If this happens, it will be one of the popular reunifications of the decade.
