Kollywood is filled with a buzz, and of course with a big toss, among the fans over who would be directing Ajith in Thala 62. Though there has been no official confirmation, speculations are rife on who would win the toss. Ajith is currently busy in an outing with Vinoth for the movie 'Valimai', which has been bankrolled by Boney Kapoor under the banner of Bayview Projects. 

Valimai is all set to get released in theatres during Pongal 2022 and recently, it was made official that Ajith will again be joining hands with Vinoth and Boney Kapoor for what has been tentatively named as 'Thala 61'. As Valimai has been at the final stage, the team is sketching the preparations for Thala 61 and the shooting of this film is expected to begin in early 2022, soon after the release of Valimai. While Thala 61 is done with the director, the latest buzz is for who is going to direct Ajith in Thala 62. 

The reports in the know had said that Ajith had begun to give a hear to the narrations from various directors and if everything goes as predicted, popular director Thiagarajan Kumararaja will win the toss and will be directing Ajith in Thala 66 as the actor has accepted his story. Kumararaja is well known for his movies 'Aaranya Kaandam' and 'Super Deluxe', which had received a national acclamation.

It has been reported that Ajith had held talks with Kumararaja and has liked the latter's narration and agreed to work with him. 44-year-old Kumararaja had made his directorial debut with 'Aaranya Kaandam' in 2011 and the movie had earned him the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film Director at 59th National Film Awards. His other movie 'Super Deluxe' had also invited national recognitions and it has won 'Critics Choice Film Awards' in the major category including Best movie of the year, Best film- Tamil, Best director- Tamil, and Best writing - Tamil. 

Recently, actor Vijay Sethupathi had won the National Award for the Best Supporting Actor in Super Deluxe. If Ajith joins hands with Kumararaja, it will be the first time that both of them work together. On the other hand, Ajith's upcoming Valimai will be an action thriller film and the movie posters and glimpse had garnered a decent reception and poured more expectations. While Ajith Kumar plays the lead role, Huma Qureshi, Kartikeya Gummakonda, Bani J, Yogi Babu, and Pavel Navageethan would play important roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja had composed the music and Nirav Shah and Vijay Velukutty had done cinematography and editing respectively.
