Big trouble for H Raja from home...What's the friction and will BJP take action against him?

Senior BJP leader of Tamil Nadu H Raja has been surfaced with troubles from the intra-party leaders in his home district of Sivaganga.  Raja, who has been a controversial figure of the Central ruling party, had served as the National Secretary of BJP and he also had contested in the Karaikudi constituency in BJP's ticket in the recently-held state assembly polls.

Raja is one of the 20 BJP candidates who contested in the assembly polls in the ADMK alliance and apart from four candidates, all others including Raja were defeated in the polls. Raja's stronghold in his home district has begun to diminish after his defeat and a month after the polls, he has now been caught in trouble as the party leaders from his home turf had dissented against him.

According to reports, the BJP members in the Sivaganga district have threatened to resign from the party over the mismanagement of funds and the party's operations by H Raja. BJP's Sivaganga district president Selvaraj has sent his resignation to the state leadership. It has been reported that Raja's supporters had slammed Selvaraj and held him responsible for the party's defeat in the district.

Disturbed by the accusal, Selvaraj had decided to quit the party and sent his resignation to the state leadership unit. Following Selvaraj's exit, Thirupuvanam West union president of BJP Balamurugan had resigned from the party. Balamurugan has said that Selvaraj had played a pivotal role in building the party in the district and he had brought several members to the party.

Balamurugan had claimed that Selvaraj wasn't given due recognition and there is no point in people who joined the party through Selvaraj to continue their membership. Balamurugan further said that 59 branches of the party in Thirupuvanam are also being dissolved after the resignation. The reports say that apart from Selvaraj and Balamurugan, the party's Karaikudi urban district president Chandran had also submitted a petition to the leadership unit against H Raja.

In his petition, Chandran said that he has been receiving threats from Raja. By citing that he had performed his duties to the party with loyalty for the past four years, Chandran said he was blamed by Raja for his defeat in the elections. Chandran flayed H Raja by stating that the latter has been blaming the party cadres for his defeat without self-inspecting the defeat in the polls.

Chandran had further expressed his fear that Raja and his supporters may harm his family members and he requested the state leadership to relieve him from the party and from all other responsibilities. The party functionaries had also accused H Raja of mismanaging the fund given by the party's leadership for the elections.

The cadres say that resignations will continue and they will keep voicing against H Raja. The intra-party furore in Sivaganga was unprecedented in the BJP and the back-to-back resignations had shocked the party. The cadres express hope that the state leadership will take action against H Raja. The cadres further say that the BJP had given a huge amount for elections but H Raja hasn't spent the money for the party.

They further claim that H Raja has been constructing a new house in Subramaniapuram at a budget of Rs 4 crore and he is also constructing a farmhouse. They question the source of the money and they had moved their complaints against H Raja to the state leadership. The functionaries had urged the leadership to take strict action against Raja and stop further erosion of the party in the Sivaganga district.
