BJP gives a big shock to TN CM EPS: Is the ADMK-BJP alliance coming to an end?

While Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami has kickstarted his election campaign for the upcoming assembly polls as the ADMK's Chief Ministerial candidate, the Tamil Nadu BJP, which is in alliance with ADMK, has now thrown a bombshell to the state ruling party after claiming that BJP's Central leadership will announce the CM candidate of the party.

Despite being in alliance with ADMK, which is a part of the NDA coalition, the Tamil Nadu unit of the Central ruling party has claimed that it will also announce its CM candidate which caused perplexion across the state on the possibilities of how the alliance can face the elections with two CM candidates. Throwing fresh trouble to ADMK's CM candidate Edappadi Palaniswami, who hopes to retain office, Tamil Nadu BJP President L Murugan had recently said that the ruling BJP will make an official decision on who will be leading the alliance in the upcoming polls.

Speaking to reporters in the Ariyalur district after interacting with the public about the farm laws, Murugan said that the Central ruling BJP would decide and announce the CM candidate of the alliance for the upcoming legislative elections. He stated that the BJP will be making an official decision on who will be leading the alliance. By asserting that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will continue in the state for the assembly polls, L Murugan reiterated that the Central ruling party would decide who will the CM candidate of the alliance.

Murugan's statement has come at a high time when Edappadi Palaniswami has kickstarted the ADMK's election campaign from his hometown of Salem. Edappadi Palaniswami has won the race for ADMK CM candidature after witnessing a heated tussle and intra-party dispute. The behind-the-screen candidature fight between Edappadi Palaniswami and Panneerselvam had brought the dispute to light when the state had witnessed a war of words between both the leaders at the party's meeting that held two months back.

However, Edappadi Palaniswami had won the race and he was named as the CM candidate of the party after he agreed to Panneerselvam's demand of setting up the party's steering committee to drive the party. As the party unanimously elected him as the CM candidate, Edappadi Palaniswami had elated with the hope of becoming the party's face after Jayalalithaa. As the upcoming elections would be the first state election for him as the Chief Minister, he had on Saturday started his election campaign with the support of the party from Salem.

Amid being armed with the support of the party, Edappadi Palaniswami has now got fresh trouble that was triggered by the BJP after the party claimed that it would announce the CM candidate of the alliance, pushing the ADMK candidate to face new challenges in fixing the alliance ahead of the assembly elections, amid being surfaced with external allegations from the opposition and with the entry of reputed actors to the political field.

Being levied with more trouble, Edappadi Palaniswami would also convince the voters on why they must elect him for another term and he would also ensure that there will no grounds for fresh dispute and revolt within the party after the release of jailed leader VK Sasikala. According to a news agency, a BJP leader said that there will be a decision on alliance and Chief Minister candidate only when alliance talks take place.

The Tamil Nadu unit of the Central ruling party would be working in all 234 constituencies to ensure victory and the party is planning to conduct over 3,000 meetings across Tamil Nadu to cover voters. The reports say that the remarks from BJP President Murugan on announcing CM candidate of BJP had sparked a fresh dispute between ADMK and BJP and had stirred speculations whether the ADMK and BJP alliance coming to an end in the state. After BJP's remarks had shocked the ADMK, senior Tamil Nadu Minister Jayakumar, who is close to the Chief Minister, said that BJP's claims are not acceptable.

By citing that the alliance in the state continues, Jayakumar said that  ADMK has already chosen and decided that Edappadi Palaniswami will be the CM candidate and the alliance for the upcoming elections will be under the leadership of ADMK and only ADMK will decide the CM candidate while it will allot seats to the allied parties, including BJP, in the assembly polls.
