The Central ruling BJP has on Thursday unveiled a brand new list of the party's national executive body in which several leaders were inducted while some were ousted. The BJP Central leadership had given a big surprise for the BJP leaders in Tamil Nadu, H Raja, Khushbu Sundar, and Ponradhakrishan by providing them with the national roles.
The list was announced by BJP National President JP Nadda and it has the names of top leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and saffron stalwarts like LK Advani and Murali Manohar Joshi. According to reports, the BJP's national executive body will have 50 special invitees and 179 permanent invitees, besides having 80 regular members.
The overhaul in the top body has come ahead of the crucial assembly polls that the party would be going through next year. Several Union Ministers like Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and Ashwini Vaishnaw were made into the national executive body so were the former Union Ministers Harsh Vardhan, Prakash Javadekar, and Ravi Shankar Prasad.
The BJP Central leadership had roped in Tamil Nadu BJP leaders Pon. Radhakrishnan, H Raja, and actor-turned-politician Khushbu. While Pon. Radhakrishnan was inducted as a member of the national executive, H Raja and Khushbu have been elected to be the special invitees of the national executive committee. The BJP had also awarded a membership in the national executive for Puducherry's Home Minister Namasivayam.
The Tamil Nadu BJP had welcomed the elevation of the three leaders, which had come five months after the assembly polls. Despite the trio had defeated in the polls - H Raja and Khushbu in the assembly polls and Radhakrishnan in the Lok Sabha bypoll, they have been roped into the top body and H Raja's long wait has come to an end as he is now going to the national executive as a special invitee, years after he was removed from the post of the national secretary.
Pon. Radhakrishnan was a former Union Minister of State and former Tamil Nadu BJP President, who was defeated in the recently-held Lok Sabha bypoll in the Kanyakumari parliamentary constituency. Earlier, after BJP's L Murugan was made as to the Union Minister of State, it was speculated that Radhakrishnan would be made Governor. However, another Tamil Nadu BJP veteran L Ganesan was made the Governor of Manipur.
Khushbu had joined the party last year after exiting the Congress party and being a star campaigner for the party, she has got defeated in the 2021 state assembly polls and now, she has been inducted into the national executive body and Khushbu is the third woman BJP leader in Tamil Nadu in recent times to see a political elevation after Tamilisai Soundararajan, who was made Governor, and Vanathi Srinivasan, who was appointed as the National President for BJP's Women's wing.
The executive body is a key deliberative body of the party which meets to discuss key issues facing the government and shapes the organization's agenda. The disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has prevented its meeting for a long time. Wishes have been pouring in for the three Tamil Nadu leaders following their elevation. Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai took to Twitter and wrote, "Congrats to Shri Ponradhakrishnan anna for being inducted as a National Executive Committee member & H Raja anna and Khushbu Sundar avargal for being inducted as a special invitee to the National Executive Committee of BJP. Wish them all success in their responsibilities."
