A BJP leader was shot dead: Police detained three people for investigation!

A BJP leader was shot dead in the BJP ruling state of Uttar Pradesh on Friday in Ferozabad district, days ahead of the assembly byelection in the area. The victim was identified as 46-year-old DK Gupta and he was a local leader of the state ruling party. 

According to reports, he was shot dead by the bike-borne assailants in the Nagla Beech area on Friday evening when he was returning home after closing his shop. Following the incident, he was taken to the hospital, however, he was declared brought dead. Gupta's family had filed a complaint to the local police department. 

Based on the complaint, the police had arrested three people in connection to the case for further investigation. Of those detained is Viresh Tomar with whom Gupta had developed a rivalry and the duo even had an exchange of words on Facebook recently. 

After the incident, local BJP members and residents had held a protest against the shooting that happened ahead of the assembly by-poll in the area that has been scheduled to take place on November 3. 

Following the incident and protest, senior police officers have arrived at the spot, and large number of security personnel were deployed in the area. Speaking about the development, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sachindra Patel has, on Saturday, said that all the angles are thoroughly examined and special teams were formed on Friday soon after the incident and Vinesh Tomar and two others were arrested for investigation.
