Boxing Day Test: Through the perfect bowling show, India gives a major blow to the host!

The Indian bowling line-up had built a strong momentum after giving a major blow for the host by putting up a splendid show with the ball with constraining the Australian batsmen from scoring big in the Boxing Day Test match on Saturday, which has been hosted by the Melbourne Cricket ground.

Indian batsmen Ajinkya Rahane was tasked with the additional role of leading the team in the absence of Virat Kohli. India had lost the toss and the host had let visitors bowl first. Armed with the uncompromising pacers and spinners, India's bowling line-up comprised of Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Siraj had unleashed their signature attacks against the host.

Australia elected to bat first only to witness the shocking opening after Joe Burns had gone for a duck and Matthew Wade walked out from the crease for 30 runs. As the opening of the host has got stumbled, Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith came for a revival. However, Steven Smith, who has been regarded as one of the best Test players had got out for a duck, which further shocked the host.

The Indian bowling line-up had strongly applied brakes on the host and apart from Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head, the rest of the batsmen fell short of the expectation. Labuschagne and Head stabilized the damage and played to put a decent score on board before closing the first day of the boxing test. However, the Indian bowlers put pressure on the host, and finally, the visitors had constrained the host below 200 runs as Australia has ended its innings in the first day and it had scored 195 runs and lost all the ten wickets.

While young Indian bowler Mohammed Siraj dismissed Marcus Labuschagne for 48 runs, Travis Head was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah for 38 runs. The lower-order batsmen weren't of great concern for the visitors and the host had eventually ended the innings for 195 runs. The Indian side had put on a great bowling show and Bumrah had picked four wickets for 56 runs while Ashwin had picked three wickets by giving 35 runs.

Mohammed Siraj had picked two wickets by giving 40 runs while Jadeja picked one wicket. With the host putting 195 runs on board, the Indian team had come to the crease to take the match under control. However, the visitors had also braced up a shock after opener Mayank Agarwal had gone to a duck in the very first over bowled by Mitchell Starc. Debutant Shubman Gill was lucky to get rid of the early dismissal. Gill and Pujara are on the crease currently as India has ended its first day by scoring 36 runs and losing one wicket and the visitors are trailing by 159 runs.
