Car blast in Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Police arrest five people amid a growing fury!

The Tamil Nadu police on Monday- October 24 arrested five people in connection with the car blast that occurred in Coimbatore on Sunday. The incident has sparked a fury across the state and become a talking point for the opposition over the law and order in the state. The cylinder in a car got exploded in Coimbatore's Ukkadam and it has killed one person named Jamesha Mubeen. 

Following the incident, Tamil Nadu's Director-General of Police (DGP) C Sylendra Babu rushed to Coimbatore and visited the crime scene with the district police have launched a probe. As they have intensified the probe, the Tamil Nadu police have arrested five people on Monday and the arrested people were identified as Mohammad Asarudheen (25), Mohammad Thalka (25) of Ukkadam, Mohammad Riyaz (27), Feroz Ismail (27), and Mohammad Navaz Ismail (27) of GM Nagar. 

The police had confirmed that all the accused were with the deceased, Mubeen, and moving things into the car that exploded on Sunday. The police have retrieved CCTV footage in which a group of men was seen carrying a gunny bag from the house of the deceased. As per the footage, the men were taking a gunny bag at around 11.25 pm on Saturday and hours later, in the wee hours of Sunday, the car was exploded.

Based on the footage, the police have arrested these five people and the officials have also raided the residence of Mubeen. While addressing the reporters, Sylendra Babu said that 'low-intensive' explosive material including potassium nitrate, used in making country bombs, was recovered from Mubeen's residence. 

As the car explosion has happened close to Kottai Eswaran temple in Ukkadam and during the occasion of Diwali, the opposition parties are slamming the ruling DMK government that the law and order is deteriorating in the state. The police have formed six special teams to probe the case. ADMK's interim general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami has urged the government for an independent investigation.
