Chennai prepares for New Year Eve: Here's the update of traffic detours!

As the city of Chennai has been preparing to welcome the New Year 2020 in its style, the corporation authorities and the city's police department had rolled out how the traffic would be diverted and listed the installations of the detours across the city. 

On Monday, the Chennai Metro Rail Limited has released a statement in which it has stated that the metro trains would be operated till 1 am on January 1st with the view of New Year and to aid the city's residents to have unrestricted travel to their homes after the celebrations of New Year's Eve. In line with the Chennai Metro, the city's traffic police department has pictured the on-ground arrangments in the city.

The police department said that the police personnel would be conducting extensive vehicle checks at more than 360 junctions in the city after 9 pm on Tuesday and some of the junctions include T Nagar, Triplicane, Madhavaram, Ambattur, Anna Nagar, Adyar, Mylapore, Kilpauk, St Thomas Mount, and Pulianthope. The traffic police have warned that the driving license of the people who detained by the police after driving under the alcohol influence would be canceled and their names would be added to the list of serious offenders and stated that the department will be installing help centers with the 25 patrol vehicles at the crowded places of the city.

The banned bike race was on the rampant rise in the city during the celebrations of the New Year and by citing to prevent and to barricade the illegal bike racing, the police officials have said that the special teams were stationed at the stretches of the East Coast Road and its surroundings while more than 10,000 police troops would be camped in the downtown to control and manage the gatherings. The police department has tightened the security parameters around the city through on-ground and on-air mechanisms.

With the view of ensuring no untoward incidents are reported, the police had installed the patrols in Marina, Besant Nagar, Santhome beaches as these are the main beaches that would host the celebrations. By stationing the extensive security measures at the temples and churches, the police had also deployed the drones to monitor the crowds from the air at the important junctions.

The reports say that the stretch of Kamarajar Salai near Marina Beach has been installed with the detours. The authorities had stated that no vehicles would be permitted to enter the inner roads of Marina Beach after 8 pm on Tuesday while the vehicles which are already parked in the inner roads can let out through the exit of Kamarajar Salai till 8 pm on Tuesday and after the deadline, the vehicles must use the detours and can exit from the road behind the Lighthouse.

On the other hand, the vehicles gearing towards the War Memorial from the RBI subway and Walajah junction will be detoured through Flagstaff road towards Anna Salai from 8 pm on Tuesday whereas the vehicles towards Gandhi Statue to hit Anna Salai will be routed through Luz and Royapettah to reach Anna Salai and the Vehicles driving from Karaneeswarar temple can't drive towards Kamarajar Salai and they can use the detour of Santhome High road.
