Chilling crime: This rape convict in MP, who was released on his 'good conduct', commits a rape again!

In what has become a chilling crime in Madhya Pradesh, a rape convict, who was released from the prison early owing to his 'good conduct', has committed a rape again and this time, he had raped a minor and the victim is in critical condition. While a case under POCSO Act was filed against the accused, the state Home Minister has said that the house of the accused will be bulldozed.

The accused has been identified as 35-year-old Rakesh Verma and he is a native of Satna district. Verma was earlier convicted in a rape case and he was sentenced to 10-year prison term. However, in 2021, he was released from the prison following a sentence remission. Verma was granted early release after serving  seven years based on his 'good conduct'.

Two years after getting freed from incarceration, Verma went on to commit a crime for what he was imprisoned in the past. According to reports, Verma had allegedly lured the minor and raped her on Wednesday evening. The minor girl was brutally assaulted and she was taken to a local hospital and later, she was transferred to the Rewa Medical College Hospital for further treatments.

The victim's condition is critical and following the heinous crime, the police arrested Rakesh Verma and charged him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as the accused is a minor. Reacting to the incident, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra has strongly condemned the incident and announced that Verma's home would be demolished.
