'The Cholas are coming': Motion poster of Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan' turns heads!

For the ardent Tamil cinema fans, every update from Mani Ratnam's magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan' would take them to great excitement and the storming hype of the fans has been rising ever since Mani Ratnam announced that he is going to direct what remains to be a dream project of the Kollywood. 2022 will finally end the decades-long wait of Kollywood over bringing this project on the big screens. 

The Himalayan project has been divided into two and the first part 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' (PS-1) has been slated for a theatrical release on September 30. The movie has roped in an ensemble cast and on Saturday- July 2, the movie team has unveiled a new motion poster along with making an announcement of the movie's pan-India release. The short and gripping motion poster, which runs for ten seconds, has turned heads and has been going viral. 

The motion poster didn't fail to pour more excitement and expectations. Taking to Twitter, Lyca Productions, which bankrolls the movie, wrote, "Look out! Brace yourself. Get ready for an adventure. The Cholas are coming!" Mani Ratnam's 'Madras Talkies' which co-produces the movie has also shared the motion poster, which has affirmed that the movie will hit the theatres on September 30. 

Ponniyin Selvan is based on the novel written by Kalki Krishnamurthy under the same name and the fans are just two months ahead to relish this humongous project that took years to materialize. As the motion poster has been released, it has been reported that the teaser of the movie would get released by this month. The epic historical story has roped in legends and the movie will be getting released in five languages - Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. 

While Mani Ratnam has helmed the project, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vijayakumar, Nassar, and Balaji Sakthivel will play important roles. Interestingly, AR Rahman has composed the music while Kabilan and Venba Geethayan had penned the lyrics for the songs and Jayamohan has written the dialogues.
