Clash of Kings...What Dhoni should do to have a comeback and will CSK retain the dominance?

With the onus of piloting the team towards a strong comeback, MS Dhoni is all set for a fierce battle with the potent Punjab Kings. Dhoni's fleet is in an imperative state that it needs to revive by fixing the flaws and open its victory account and it is with no doubt that the battle would be the perfect clash of Kings. The Chennai Super Kings and the Punjab Kings would be contesting on Friday at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

While KL Rahul's Punjab Kings would be eyeing for their second victory after the brilliant and thrilling triumph over the Rajasthan Royals, Dhoni's Super Kings are still yet to open the pack of victory and they must put a strong show to finish big. As Punjab Kings have built a potent batting line-up, the already-flawed bowling of the Super Kings would be facing more challenge in constraining Punjab to a low score.

On the corridors of Chennai Super Kings, the men in yellow must cement the potholes in the batting and bowling unit and the team is really yearning for the captain's knock. Today's toss at the Wankhede would be greeted by the factor of 'dew', which will push the toss-winning captain to go for bowling. As both sides are locking horns, there would be no dearth of interest and thrillers in the match, and besides being the clash between the Kings, all eyes would be on MS Dhoni with the expectations from the fans and he would balm their disappointments over the team.

What CSK should do? They shouldn't give space for any flaws in any of the areas and they must concentrate on powering up the bowling line-up with not losing grip on the batting. The lack of quality fast bowlers still haunts the CSK and rewinding the last year's episode. Though Chennai has warriors like Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja, the bowling line-up fades the momentum of the team away.

CSK's head coach Stephen Fleming has admitted that the absence of quality fast bowlers has taken the positive start away from the team. The reports say that MS Dhoni will be taking on the Punjab Kings with Sam Curran, Shardul Thakur, and Dwayne Bravo as potential bowlers Lungi Ngidi and Jason Behrendorff will less likely get inducted to the playing XI against Punjab. On the front of the batting unit, CSK majorly relies on Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and MS Dhoni and if these warriors put a great show, CSK would cross 190 runs.

On the other hand, the power of batting in Punjab was not the same when it comes to bowling. While Punjab has KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, and Deepak Hooda in the batting line-up, the major concern for Punjab is the death bowling and the team has Shami, Jhye Richardson, Arshdeep Singh, Riley Meredith, and Murugan Ashwin in their bowling store. During the first match between the Rajasthan Royals, these bowlers had delivered a flawed show with an economy rate of 10 at an average.

As both the teams have concerns in their respective bowling units, we can expect that both sides would put a magnificent batting show in the opening and chasing. The Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings had clashed 21 matches head-to-head, CSK has won 14 matches and reigns its dominance over Punjab and the fans expect that the CSK would keep up the same.

On the front of probable playing XI, here's what we can predict on the squad - Chennai Super Kings: MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Dwayne Bravo, Shardul Thakur, and Deepak Chahar. Punjab Kings: KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Deepak Hooda, Nicholas Pooran, Shahrukh Khan, Jhye Richardson, Ravi Bishnoi/ Murugan Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Riley Meredith, and Arshdeep Singh.
