'Come what may, my duty...': Rahul Gandhi's first tweet after his conviction was stayed by Supreme Court!

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is all set to enter the Lok Sabha again after his legal battle to defeat a conviction that was awarded to him was triumphed on Friday - August 4 with the Supreme Court delivering a verdict of staying his conviction, which will lead to reinstate his Lok Sabha membership.

The Congress party and the leaders across the country have welcomed the verdict that has come at a high time when the opposition parties need his presence in the ongoing parliament session. Reacting to the verdict that gave him a huge relief, the Congress leader said that his duty will remain the same. Taking to X, Rahul Gandhi wrote, "Come what may, my duty remains the same. Protect the idea of India."

Key Congress leaders have opened up about the verdict so were various opposition leaders. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has written to the Lok Sabha Secretariat asking to reinstate Rahul Gandhi's membership in the house. Now, it is expected that as Rahul Gandhi will be reinstated as a Lok Sabha member, he will attend the ongoing session and his presence will boost the opposition's fight against the BJP government.

As the Congress party has brought a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence over the Manipur violence, Rahul Gandhi's comeback to the house will give a big shot in the arm for the opposition parties. Several leaders from across the country had welcomed the verdict and come down heavily on the Modi regime and asserted that the justice has prevailed.

Kharge took to social media and wrote, "Truth Alone Triumphs! We welcome the verdict by the Hon’ble Supreme Court giving relief to Shri Rahul Gandhi. Justice has been delivered. Democracy has won. The Constitution has been upheld. BJP’s conspiratorial hounding of Shri Gandhi has been thoroughly exposed. Time for them to stop their malicious targeting of Opposition leaders. It is high time they respect the mandate given by the people and start governing the country, on which they have miserably failed in the last 10 years."

Veteran Congress leader P Chidambaram wrote, "The Supreme Court's order today is a vindication of the argument that we have consistently pressed before every court -- from the Trial Court to the Supreme Court The Hon'ble Speaker of the Lok Sabha should immediately restore Mr Rahul Gandhi's membership of the Lok Sabha Please remember that we have not been able to find a case where the court imposed the maximum punishment of 2 years for 'slander' in the last 162 years We maintain that the case was manufactured with the sole intention of keeping Mr Rahul Gandhi from Parliament."

Rahul Gandhi has also received significant support from the leaders of opposition coalition of INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance). DMK chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin took to social media and wrote, "Justice prevails! Wayanad retains Rahul Gandhi! Welcome the Hon'ble Supreme Court's decision staying the conviction of dear brother Thiru Rahul Gandhi in the criminal defamation case. This decision reaffirms our belief in the strength of our judiciary and the importance of safeguarding democratic values."

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, who is part of INDIA coalition, wrote, "I am happy with the news about the MP-ship of Rahul Gandhi. This will further strengthen the resolve of the INDIA alliance to unitedly fight for our motherland and win. A victory of the judiciary." Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Chief Arvind Kejriwal wrote, "I welcome Hon’ble Supreme Court's intervention in an unjust defamation case against Rahul Gandhi ji.
