Controversial YouTuber Maridhas arrested by TN Police for his shocking comment: Here's what happened!

Controversial YouTuber Maridhas, who poses himself as a right-wing supporter, has on Thursday arrested by the Tamil Nadu police on the grounds of serious charges for circulating conspiracy theories. The YouTuber was arrested from his residence in Madurai after an episode of ruckus with the police officials. He was apprehended for his theory around the death of India's Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat in which he put out a shocking comment that Tamil Nadu is turning into another Kashmir under the DMK regime.

Maridhas, who runs a YouTube channel 'Maridhas Answers', has been a controversial figure in Tamil Nadu over his bigotry and hatred comments. When the nation has been mourning the loss of General Bipin Rawat, Maridhas had scripted a conspiracy using his death and claimed that the state has been turning into Kashmir. He took to Twitter and share this conspiracy at around 10.13 am on Thursday and he went on to claim that the state gives freedom to create a group that can do any level of treason against the country.

He also said that it is possible for any kind of plot to be hatched here. His controversial tweet was later deleted only after it was seen by the users and the police department. Based on his tweet that had the intention of causing a riot, the police took a suo motu cognisance and filed a case against Maridhas. Our sources say that when the Madurai police went to his residence to arrest him based on the case, Maridhas had initially accepted to come and later, he went inside and locked his room.

While the police officials were trying to arrest him, Maridhas had called the BJP district leaders and clamoured that he was going to get arrested. Based on his phone call, the BJP leaders including the BJP Madurai secretary has arrived at his residence and created a ruckus and protested against the police. Later, top police officials had held a talk with them and arrested Maridhas. He was taken to the police station and got booked under serious charges.

The Madurai police department has said that a case has been booked against Maridhas under sections 153- wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause a riot and 505(2) - making statements with intent to cause public mischief, or which is likely to cause, fear or alarm to the public of the Indian Penal Code. In another tweet, Maridhas had claimed that DMK is the best choice for separatist forces and that many DMK supporters were seen mocking the death of an army commander in an accident.

While the Indian Air Force had ordered an investigation into the chopper crash that killed Bipin Rawat, Maridhas's comment behind the accident had poured him more trouble. On Wednesday, 63-year-old General Bipin Rawat has died in the military chopper crash in the Nilgiris district. The chopper was carrying 14 people on board and apart from a Group Captain, all 13 including Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat had died in the crash, which has been cited to have happened due to foggy weather.

It must be noted that Maridhas has been a controversial YouTuber and in April last year, he was booked by the Tirunelveli police for stoking communal sentiment based on a complaint against his videos about the Covid-19 pandemic. He had claimed that the novel coronavirus is being intentionally spread by terrorists to murder innocent people across the world. Last year, he had drawn fury among the media fraternities over his targeted campaign against senior journalists by accusing them of being 'anti-Hindu'. He also had claimed the Islamic event Tablighi Jamaat had spread Covid in India.
