Corona outbreak: This former Indian minister gets self-quarantined!

Despite being tested negative for the Coronavirus (COVID19), former Union Minister and sitting Rajya Sabha MP Suresh Prabhu has, on Wednesday, kept himself under home-quarantine with the view of containing the spread of the epidemic as he has recently returned from Saudi Arabia, one of the Gulf countries, that has been reporting with soaring high cases in its territory.

The reports say that Suresh Prabhu would stay isolated in his residence for the next fourteen days as the precautionary measure. Suresh Prabhu, who served as the Union Minister and held different portfolios - Railways, Commerce and Industry, and Civil Aviation in the Modi's first cabinet, went to Saudi Arabia to attend the meeting for the upcoming G20 Summit on March 10th, 2020.

He has been appointed as India's Sherpa to the G20 and the upcoming summit would be hosted by Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's capital. He currently serves as a BJP MP in Rajya Sabha and after getting self-quarantined at his residence, he has addressed to Rajya Sabha Chairman and India's Vice President Venkaiah Naidu that he would not be attending the ongoing Parliamentary session until his isolation period gets completed.

In his letter, Suresh Prabhu stated that he has kept himself under isolation for the next 14 days as a precautionary measure despite testing negative in the wake of the Coronavirus spread. He added that he wouldn't be able to attend the parliamentary session till the end of his isolation period and stated that he has decided by considering the health of the members of the Parliament, the staff, and the visitors.

According to the reports, Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan has already been self-quarantined at his residence in Delhi after a medical institute that he had visited recently reported with the positive case for the virus. Although he has tested negative, he remains under home-quarantine. As of 19th March, 10.20 am, according to the CovidIndia.org website, India has reported with 171 confirmed cases and three deaths.
