COVID-19: With 4000 cases for the second consecutive day, TN's tally has crossed 1 lakh!

The state of Tamil Nadu has reported 4,329 fresh cases that were tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Friday through which the state has crossed the tally of 1 lakh by reporting 1,02,721 cases so far in its territory including active, recovered, and deceased patients. 

The state has attained the never-wished peak in the cases amid rolling out the containment measures. The current reporting of 4,329 cases has been recorded as one of the highest single-day rises of the state and through the current reporting, Tamil Nadu has reported more than 4,000 cases for the second consecutive day. According to the official press release issued by the state health department, Tamil Nadu has tested 12,70,720 samples so far including 35,028 tested on Friday of which 4,329 returned positive for the viral infection.

 

These 4,329 cases include 65 people who returned to the state from other regions and the current reporting includes 2,621 males and 1,708 female patients. Eleven districts of the state account for the major share in 4,329 cases. The press release stated that 2,082 cases belong to Chennai, 330 cases belong to Chengalpattu, 287 cases belong to Madurai, 172 cases belong to Thiruvallur, 151 cases from Thiruvannamalai. 

145 cases belong to Vellore, 126 belong to Theni, 121 cases belong to Kancheepuram, 99 cases from Salem, 90 belong to Ranipet, and 65 belong to Virudhunagar. Along with the sharpest spike of cases in Chennai, the state has also been witnessing a steady rise in other districts. The state has reported 2,357 fresh discharges taking the total number of discharges to 58,378 so far.

The state has also recorded 64 deaths of which 42 deaths were recorded at the government hospitals while the rest were from the private establishments. Of these 64 deaths, 33 belong to Chennai and out of 64 deaths, 58 deceased had identified with co-morbid conditions. The current reporting of deaths has taken the state's death toll to 1,385 so far- three highest in India.

With the current reporting of 2,082 cases, Chennai has recorded 64,689 cases so far amid the containment measures, and the city accounts for two-thirds of total cases affected in the state. As of Friday, the state has reported 1,02,721 positive cases so far of which 42,955 are active - including isolation, 58,378 have been discharged, and 1,321 had succumbed to the virus.

By reporting 1,02,721 cases, Tamil Nadu is the second Indian state with the most number of COVID-19 cases after Maharashtra, which has reported 1,86,626 cases so far. According to the Tamil Nadu's Health Department, the state has added over 80,000 cases in June month as the state's tally stood at 22,333 on May 31st and now, the tally stands at 1,02,721 cases.
