COVID-19: Chennai reports a decline in cases while the state's tally has crossed 4.5 lakh!

The state of Tamil Nadu has reported 5,976 fresh cases that were tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Friday through which the state's tally has crossed 4.50 lakh by reporting 4,51,827 positive cases so far in its territory including active, recovered, and deceased patients. 

According to the official press release issued by the state health department, Tamil Nadu has tested 51,30,741 samples so far including 83,699 that were tested on Friday of which 5,976 have returned positive for the viral infection. These 5,976 cases include the influx of 25 people who returned to the state from other regions. Of these 5,976 cases, 3,604 are males and the rest 2,372 are female patients. 

The press release stated that 19 districts have reported more than a hundred cases each in the current reporting. Chennai has reported 992 cases, 595 cases belong to Coimbatore, 499 cases from Cuddalore, 370 cases belong to Chengalpattu, 260 cases belong to Thiruvallur, 239 cases from Salem, and 216 cases belong to Thiruvannamalai. 

Kallakurichi has reported 182 cases, 164 cases belong to Thanjavur, 154 cases from Kancheepuram, 148 cases belong to Villupuram, 134 cases from Vellore, 123 cases belong to Madurai, 121 cases each from Erode and Ranipet, 114 cases from Tirunelveli, 107 cases belong to Kanyakumari, 104 cases from Trichy, and 102 cases belong to Pudukottai. 

The state has reported 6,334 fresh discharges taking the total tally of discharges to 3,92,507 so far. The state has also recorded 79 fresh deaths through which the death toll currently stands at 7,687 so far. According to the press release, of these 79 deaths, 51 deaths were recorded at the government hospitals and 51 deaths from the private establishments. Of these 79 deaths, 12 deaths belong to Chennai, and 71 deaths out of 79 had identified with comorbidities.

With the current reporting of 992 cases, Chennai has recorded 1,39,720 cases so far of which 1,24,891 cases have been discharged and 2826 had died of the pandemic. As of Friday- September 4, Tamil Nadu has reported 4,51,827 cases so far of which 51,633 cases are active, 3,92,507 have been discharged, and 7,687 had succumbed to the viral infection.
