COVID-19: Here's how Tamil Nadu police traced a missing patient!

The Villupuram police department in Tamil Nadu has, on Tuesday, traced and identified a 30-year-old man from Delhi who was tested positive for Coronavirus, a week after he was wrongfully discharged from the district government hospital. The police officials had traced him near Chengalpattu.

According to the reports, the district police department has traced the virus affected patient at Padalam in Chengalpattu district, where he was staying for the past three days. The patient has now been admitted to Villupuram Medical College for further tests. The incident of the wrongful discharge has happened on April 7.

On April 7, the Villupuram government hospital has discharged four people after the results of their first tests turned negative for the virus. However, the result of the second successive tests came positive for the virus after which the hospital alerted the police to trace the four people to contain the spread. The police had located three people and the fourth man from Delhi went missing following which special teams were formed to locate him.

The district administration had circulated his photographs and issued contact details to the public to reach the authorities if the missing man was spotted. The police department has pasted the posters on the National Highways with his details in three languages - Tamil, English, and Hindi. The law enforcement agency has received information about the missing man on April 14th and the special team went to Padalam near Chengalpattu, captured the missing man and brought him back to Villupuram and admitted him at the Villupuram Medical College.

The reports stated that health officials will initiate measures to track his movements and contacts based on his test results. He belongs to Delhi and came to Puducherry for an interview after which he came to Villupuram. As of Tuesday evening, the state has reported 1,204 positive cases of which 1,111 are active patients while 81 people have been recovered and discharged and twelve have succumbed to the virus. Most of the positive cases include both Indian and foreign nationals.
