COVID-19: Over 100 private hospitals in TN came to action to treat the patients!

More than a hundred private hospitals in Tamil Nadu have been inducted by the state government to treat the patients affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The government has, on Saturday, released a list of 112 private hospitals across the state that are authorized to provide the treatments for the virus-hit patients. 

The patients who want to be treated at the private hospitals for the treatment can get admitted only at these listed hospitals at their own expense. According to the reports, eleven private hospitals in Chennai have been listed and one each from Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu. 

The list has 25 private medical colleges from 10 districts in the state. The state health department has directed these listed hospitals to treat the patients as per the protocol issued by the Central government and advised to disclose a daily report on the treatment provided to the patients to the director of public health and preventive medicine.

The state government has approved the private hospitals to treat the patients after some of the patients reached out to the government to get treated in private hospitals. In its order, the government said that by considering the spread of Coronavirus in the state, it has been decided to induct the private hospitals for treating the virus-hit patients and the government would further give the approval for more private hospitals based on the necessity.

On Friday, the government has designated 22 government medical college hospitals in 18 districts, including four from Chennai, as the hospitals exclusively for treating COVID-19 patients. State Health Secretary Beela Rajesh has, on Saturday, said that the permitted private hospitals have been directed to install the adequate isolation facilities and they will be treating 19 patients as per the government protocol. She further stated that the health department has been holding a video conference with all the private hospitals to review the preparedness and the hospitals would be trained in handling the virus-affected patients.

In Chennai, eleven private hospitals including Fortis Malar, Prashanth Hospital, Voluntary Health Services, Billroth Hospital, Kanchi Kamakoti Child Trust Hospital, Kauvery Hospital, CSI Kalyani General Hospital, Miot Hospital, Vijaya Hospital, GEM Hospital, and Dr. Kamakshi Memorial Hospital have been approved for treating the COVID-19 patients.
