The state of Tamil Nadu has reported 5,684 fresh cases that were tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Tuesday taking the state's total tally to 4,74,940 positive cases so far including active, recovered, and deceased patients.
According to the official press release issued by the state's health department, Tamil Nadu has tested 54,62,277 samples so far including 83,266 that were tested on Tuesday of which 5,684 had confirmed to have contracted to the viral infection. These 5,684 cases include the influx of two people (one each from West Bengal and Karnataka)who returned to the state from other regions. Of these 5,684 cases, 3,310 are males and the rest are 2,374 are female patients.
The press release stated that 20 districts in the state had reported over a hundred cases each in the current reporting. Chennai has reported 988 fresh cases, 446 cases belong to Coimbatore, 407 cases belong to Cuddalore, 364 cases from Chengalpattu, 277 cases belong to Thiruvallur, and 242 cases from Thiruvannamalai.
Thiruvarur has reported 198 cases, 164 cases from Salem, 148 cases belong to Vellore, 142 cases from Tiruppur, 138 cases from Kallakurichi, 135 cases belong to Tirunelveli, 128 cases belong to Thanjavur, 126 cases belong to Villupuram, 122 cases from Kancheepuram, 121 cases each from Erode and Ranipet, 116 cases from Pudukottai, 110 cases belong to Madurai, and 109 cases belong to Virudhunagar.
The state has reported 6,599 fresh discharges taking the total tally of discharges to 4,16,715 so far. The state has also recorded 87 fresh deaths through which the state's death toll currently stands at 8,012. According to the press release, of these 87 deaths, 44 deaths were recorded at the government hospitals and the rest 43 were recorded at the private establishments.
Of these 87 deaths, 18 deaths belong to Chennai and 84 out of 87 had identified with comorbidities. With the current reporting of 988 fresh cases, Chennai has recorded 1,43,602 cases so far of which 1,29,677 have been discharged and 2,896 had died due to the global pandemic. As of Tuesday - September 8, Tamil Nadu has reported 4,74,940 cases so far of which 50,213 are active, 4,16,715 have been discharged, and 8,012 had died of the viral infection.
