COVID-19: TN has reported a total of 3,384 deaths in August as the toll nears 7,500!

The state of Tamil Nadu has reported 5,928 fresh cases that were tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Tuesday, taking the state's total tally to 4,33,969 positive cases so far including active, recovered, and deceased patients. 

According to the official press release issued by the state health department, Tamil Nadu has tested 48,88,312 samples so far including 75,165 that were tested on Tuesday of which 5,928 had confirmed to have contracted to the viral infection. These 5,928 cases include 31 people who returned to the state from other regions. 

Of these 5,928 cases, 3,853 are males and the rest 2,075 are female patients. The press release stated that 17 districts have accounted for the heavy caseloads in the current reporting. Chennai has reported 1,084 cases, Coimbatore has reported 561 cases, Chengalpattu has reported 384 cases, 335 cases belong to Salem, 296 cases belong to Thiruvallur, 286 cases belong to Cuddalore, and 209 cases belong to Kallakurichi.

Kancheepuram has reported 191 cases, Ranipet has reported 182 cases, 166 cases belong to Villupuram, 154 cases from Thiruvannamalai, 153 cases from Kanyakumari, 152 cases from Tirunelveli, 137 cases belong to Vellore, 132 cases from Thanjavur, 128 cases belong to Madurai, and Dindigul has reported 111 cases. The state has reported 6,031 fresh discharges taking the total tally of discharges to 3,74,172 so far. 

The state has reported 96 fresh deaths taking the death toll to 7,418 so far. According to the press release, of these 96 deaths, 61 deaths were recorded at the government hospitals and 35 deaths were recorded at the private establishments. Of these 96 deaths, 22 belong to Chennai and 92 out of these 96 deaths were identified with comorbidities. According to the data of the health department, Tamil Nadu has recorded 3,384 deaths in one month from August 1st to September 1st as the state has been witnessing soaring deaths. 

With the current reporting of 1,084 cases, Chennai has recorded 1,36,697 cases so far of which 1,20,820 have been discharged and 2,770 had died due to the pandemic. As of Tuesday- September 1, Tamil Nadu has reported 4,33,969 cases so far of which 52,379 are active, 3,74,172 have been discharged, and 7,418 had succumbed to the viral infection.
