COVID-19: TN reports 5,870 fresh cases and the state's tally of recovery nears 4 lakh!

The state of Tamil Nadu has reported 5,870 fresh cases that were tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Saturday taking the state's total tally to 4,57,697 positive cases so far including active, recovered, and deceased patients. 

According to the official press release issued by the state health department, Tamil Nadu has tested 52,12,534 samples so far including 81,793 that were tested on Saturday of which 5,870 had confirmed to have contracted to the viral infection. These 5,870 cases include the influx of nine people who have returned to the state from other regions. Of these 5,870 cases, 3,516 are males and the rest 2,354 are female patients. 

The press release stated that 22 districts have reported more than a hundred cases each in the current reporting. Chennai has reported 965 cases, 545 cases belong to Coimbatore, 434 cases from Cuddalore, 293 cases belong to Chengalpattu, 250 cases from Salem, 244 cases belong to Thiruvallur, and 239 cases belong to Thiruvannamalai. 

Tiruppur has reported 196 cases, 169 cases belong to Nagapattinam, 165 cases belong to Vellore, 152 cases from Kancheepuram, 145 cases from Villupuram, 141 cases from Erode, 133 cases belong to Kallakurichi, 127 cases belong to Tirunelveli, 126 cases from Pudukottai, 122 cases from Dindigul, 118 cases from Virudhunagar, 114 cases belong to Thanjavur, 111 cases from Thiruvarur, 109 cases from Ranipet, and 108 cases belong to Trichy. 

The state has reported 5,859 fresh discharges taking the total tally of discharges to 3,98,366 so far. The state has recorded 61 fresh deaths through which the death toll currently stands at 7,748. 

According to the press release, of these 61 deaths, 40 deaths were recorded at the government hospitals and the rest 21 were from the private establishments. Of these 61 deaths, 19 deaths belong to Chennai and 57 out of 61 deaths had reported with comorbidities. 

Chennai has recorded a decline in fresh cases as the count has dropped below thousand while the western district of Coimbatore has reported the biggest spike with 545 cases and the district has been witnessing a surge in the cases for the past few days amid the lockdown that has major ingredients of relaxations, signaling the grounds of fresh hotspots in the district. With the current reporting of 965 cases, Chennai has recorded 1,40,685 of which 1,26,428 have been discharged and 2,845 had died due to the pandemic. 

As of Saturday - September 5, Tamil Nadu has reported 4,57,697 cases so far of which 51,583 are active, 3,98,366 have been discharged, and 7,748 had succumbed to the viral infection.
