The state of Tamil Nadu has reported 6,426 fresh cases that were tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Wednesday which had taken the state's tally beyond 2.34 lakh by reporting 2,34,114 positive cases so far in its territory including active, recovered, and deceased patients.
According to the official press release issued by the state health department, Tamil Nadu has tested 25,36,660 samples so far including 60,794 that were tested on Wednesday of which 6,426 confirmed to have contracted to the viral infection. These 6,426 cases include 33 people who returned to the state from other regions amid the lockdown.

Of these 6,426 cases, 3,892 are males, 2,530 are female patients, and rest four are transgenders. According to the press release, 21 districts have reported over a hundred cases, accounting for the major caseloads in the current reporting. Chennai has reported 1,117 cases, Chengalpattu has reported 540 cases, 382 cases each from Tiruvallur and Tirunelveli, 373 cases from Kancheepuram, and 370 cases belong to Virudhunagar.
Thoothukudi has reported 316 cases, 289 cases belong to Coimbatore, 225 cases belong to Madurai, 202 cases belong to Kanyakumari, 188 cases from Thanjavur, 182 cases from Ranipet, 177 cases from Thiruvannamalai, 138 cases from Villupuram, 136 cases from Trichy, 133 cases belong to Kallakurichi, 131 cases from Theni, 123 cases from Salem, 120 cases from Cuddalore, 112 and 105 cases from Thiruvarur and Vellore respectively.
The state has reported 5,927 fresh discharges taking the total number of discharges to 1,72,883 so far and the state has also recorded 82 fresh deaths through which the state's death toll stands at 3,741 so far. According to the press release, of these 82 deaths, 54 were recorded from the government hospitals and the rest 28 were recorded from the private establishments.
75 out of the total 82 deceased had been identified with the co-morbid conditions largely diabetes and hypertension. Of these 82 deaths, 21 belong to Chennai, nine belong to Madurai, six belong to Dindigul, five each from Kancheepuram and Virudhunagar, four each from Thiruvallur and Vellore, three each from Chengalpattu, Nagapattinam, and Sivagangai. Two each from Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Theni, Tiruvannamalai, Thoothukudi, and Tirunelveli.
One each from Ariyalur, Erode, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Tenkasi, Thanjavur, and Thiruvarur. Chennai has been keeping its major contribution despite the decline and with the current reporting of 1,117 cases, the city has recorded 97,575 so far of which 82,764 have been discharged and 2,076 had died.
At the current state, 23 districts in Tamil Nadu have crossed the tally of 2000 COVID-19 cases, of which four have crossed 10,000 cases as the cases have been soaring across the state with active contribution from the districts outside Chennai.
As of Wednesday, Tamil Nadu has reported 2,34,114 cases so far of which 57,490 are active, 1,72,883 have been recovered, and 3,741 had succumbed to the virus.
