COVID-19: TN reports over 100 deaths in a single day while the total tally nears 4 lakh!

The state of Tamil Nadu has reported 5,951 fresh cases that were tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Tuesday, taking the state's total tally to 3,91,303 positive cases so far in its territory including active, recovered, and deceased patients. 

According to the state's health department, Tamil Nadu has tested 43,46,861 samples so far through RT-PCR including 70,221 that were tested on Tuesday of which 5,951 had returned positive for the viral infection. 

These 5,951 cases include the influx of 14 people who returned to the state from other regions and of these 5,951 cases, 3,615 are males and the rest are 2,336 are female patients. 

 

The press release stated that 19 districts have reported major caseloads in the current reporting. Chennai has reported 1,270 cases, 370 cases belong to Cuddalore, 322 cases from Coimbatore, 321 cases belong to Chengalpattu, 305 cases belong to Thiruvallur, 297 cases belong to Salem, 226 cases belong to Theni, 214 cases belong to Kancheepuram, and Tirunelveli has reported 204 cases. 

Ranipet has reported 196 cases, 185 cases belong to Villupuram, 155 cases from Kanyakumari, 149 cases from Nagapattinam, 143 cases from Erode, 136 cases belong to Vellore, 126 cases from Dindigul, 116 cases belong to Pudukottai, 106 cases belong to Trichy, and 102 cases belong to Thiruvannamalai. The state has reported 6,998 fresh discharges taking the total tally of discharges to 3,32,454 so far. 

The state has recorded yet another spike of deaths after reporting 107 fresh deaths which had taken the death toll to 6,721 so far. According to the press release, of these 107 deaths, 65 deaths were recorded at the government hospitals and the rest 42 were recorded  at the private establishments.  Of these 107 deaths, 20 deaths belong to Chennai. 

According to the data of the state health department, for the past 23 days including Tuesday, the state has reported 2,589 deaths. Chennai has reported the sharpest rise of fresh cases and with the current reporting of 1,270 cases, Chennai has recorded 1,27,947 cases so far. As of Tuesday - August 25, Tamil Nadu has reported 3,91,303 cases so far of which 52,128 are active, 3,32,454 have been discharged, and 6,721 had succumbed to the viral infection.
