COVID-19: TN's tally has crossed 4 lakh with over a hundred deaths for the third consecutive day!

The state of Tamil Nadu has reported 5,951 fresh cases that were tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Thursday which had taken the state's tally to 4,03,242 positive cases so far in its territory including active, recovered, and deceased patients. 

According to the official press release issued by the state Health Department, Tamil Nadu has tested 44,98,706 samples so far including 76,345 that were tested on Thursday of which 5,981 had confirmed to have contracted to the viral infection. These 5,981 fresh cases include the influx of thirty people who returned to the state from other regions. Of these 5,981 cases, 3,643 are males and the rest 2,338 are female patients. 

The press release stated that 19 districts in the state had contributed heavy caseloads in the current reporting. Chennai has reported 1,286 cases, 439 cases belong to Coimbatore, 413 cases belong to Salem, 323 cases from Thiruvallur, 298 cases belong to Chengalpattu, 261 cases belong to Cuddalore, and 256 cases belong to Kancheepuram. 

Ranipet has reported 162 cases, Vellore has reported 161 cases, 152 cases belong to Virudhunagar, 144 cases belong to Villupuram, 136 cases from Pudukottai, 130 cases from Theni, 122 cases belong to Thanjavur, 121 cases belong to Erode, 118 cases belong to Tirunelveli, 113 cases from Trichy, 104 cases belong to Kanyakumari, and 102 cases from Dindigul. The state has reported 5,870 fresh discharges taking the total discharges to 3,43,930 so far. 

The state has recorded 109 fresh deaths which had taken the death toll to 6,948. According to the press release, of these 109 deaths, 79 deaths were recorded at the government hospitals, and the rest 30 were recorded at the private establishments. Of these 109 deaths, 32 deaths belong to Chennai, 13 from Thiruvallur, and 11 from Coimbatore. 101 deaths had been identified with the comorbidities.  

Through the current reporting, the state has reported over a hundred deaths for the third consecutive day, and for the past 25 days including Thursday, the state has recorded 2,816 deaths. With the current reporting of 1,286 fresh cases, Chennai has recorded at 1,30,564 of which 1,14,448 have been recovered and 2666 had died due to the global pandemic. 

As of Thursday - August 27, Tamil Nadu has reported 4,03,242 cases so far of which 52,364 are active, 3,43,930 have been discharged, and 6,948 had succumbed to the viral infection.
