“Dear Friends, well wishers"... Suriya responds after a minor accident at Kanguva sets!

Suriya, the popular Tamil actor who is known for his versatile roles and charismatic screen presence, had a lucky escape from a potential disaster on the sets of his upcoming historical epic ‘Kanguva’. The actor was filming a crucial scene for the movie when a rope camera malfunctioned and crashed on his shoulder, causing him to suffer pain and injury.

The team of 'Kanguva' has been shooting at the EVP Gardens of Chennai for the past few weeks. However, an incident occurred there recently. The movie, directed by Siruthai Siva, is in its final stages of production and the team has been working hard to wrap up the shoot. 

According to the stunt director Supreme Sundar, who was present at the spot, the rope camera lost control due to a technical glitch and fell on Suriya’s shoulder. He said that Suriya was not seriously injured and he was given first aid immediately. He also praised Suriya for his professionalism and dedication, as he resumed shooting after a brief break.

Suriya himself took to X to reassure his fans and well-wishers about his condition. He wrote, “Dear Friends, well wishers & my #AnbaanaFans Heartfelt thanks for the outpouring ‘get well soon’ msgs… feeling much better… always grateful for all your love :)”. His post received thousands of likes and comments from his followers, who expressed their relief and admiration for the actor.

‘Kanguva’ is one of the most anticipated films of the year and features Suriya in multiple roles, directed by Siva and written by Adi Narayana. The film is produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja, V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati under the banners of Studio Green and UV Creations.

The film stars Suriya in five roles, leading an ensemble cast that includes Disha Patani (in her Tamil debut), Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, Ravi Raghavendra, K. S. Ravikumar and B. S. Avinash. The premise reveals that the film revolves around a warrior named Arathar Venkaater who lived in 1678 and died due to a mysterious disease.

The film has music by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy and editing by Nishadh Yusuf. Made on a budget of ₹350 crore (US$44 million), Kanguva is the fifth most expensive Indian film to date. The film is scheduled to be released theatrically in early 2024 in 2D as well as 3D formats. The film will also be dubbed and released in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and English.
