DGP R Sreelekha, First Woman IPS Officer Retires in Kerala! 

The first woman IPS officer, DGP R Sreelekha in Kerala will retire today. Thiruvananthapuram: DGP R Sreelekha, the first woman IPS officer in Kerala, will retire from service today. The departure from the service life was to say no to farewell ceremonies. She is a 1987 batch IPS officer. She was the first woman to join the IPS cadre in Kerala. 

During his 33 years of service, he held several positions inside and outside the police. Along with being a police officer, she also excelled as a writer. Cherthala started as ASP. He became SP in Thrissur, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha districts. He served as SP in the CBI for five years. He has worked as DIG, IG, and ADGP in the Vigilance and Crime Branch. Lightning tests on vigilance began during the time of R. Sreelekha. 

She was also authored many books, including the detective novel ‘Maranadhoothan’ (Messenger of Death).  

She requested her colleagues not to arrange any farewell event for her, regarding her retirement on Thursday. 

 “She is retiring after giving in writing that she does not want any farewell functions from the police or IPS associations,” a post by the official Facebook page of the Fire and Rescue Department stated.
