Dhanush holds the burden - 'Pattas' result!

It's typical and habitual in Tamil Cinema Industry that it inevitably has higher expectations on the actors who had already rocked and reached the fans through the successful movies and one of such recent and precise examples is Actor Dhanush on whom the fans and audiences had levied beyond the expected level of story and acting after he has shown the audacity and commitment towards acting in 'Asuran'. Although the years-long wait 'Enai Noki Paayum Thota'- that was completed before Asuran, just got passed by, does his Pongal treat 'Pattas' has delivered justice to the expectations on Dhanush or gets added to the numbers?

Durai Senthilkumar, who is known for hitting the screens with interesting and entertaining movies like 'Ethir Neechal', 'Kaakki Sattai', and Kodi', has, for this time, come up with the movie 'Pattas' that has revealed the story through the trailer- the minutes' long trailer has certainly brought the judgment on the story of the hours' long movie. How the movie has been packed? Let's review...

                             Dhanush in Pattas movie

Dhanush has been spending his life through involving in robbery and depredation in Chennai along with his foster father Ramdoss AKA Munishkanth and his friend Sathish - an artist in Kalakka Povathu Yaaru. Sneha, who has been acquitted from prison after spending life-term imprisonment for a murder crime, is expressing her shock and happiness in meeting Dhanush after a long time.

Pattas has featured Dhanush in dual roles - Father and son. The son is a robber while his father is a distinguished preceptor and his mother is Sneha. After Sneha met his son, the junior Dhanush, the story rolls the flashback on how the son has got separated from the family. Not much twists, not much suspense, and thriller..the flashback has filled with the story that can be easily judged by a Tamil audience so does the second part of the movie.

What special element does this simple and usual story has to rob and to attract the fans? The acting of the lead roles and the pressing flashback. Through 'Pattas', Dhanush has recapped his style ten years ago in his lively acting while senior Dhanush has delivered a matured, peculiar and persistent acting and Sneha has reserved with the suitable role of valor mother and she has registered her daring act that had added as one of the strong pillars of the movie along with Dhanush and the stunt scenes with the ancient Tamil Martial Arts have been presenting the 'goosebumps' for the audiences for which stunt director Dhilip Subbarayan must be credited.

Apart from these special elements, all other components have seemingly been kept to fill the vacuum. The comedic scenes of Dhanush- Sathish- Munishkanth at the beginning of the movie holds the testament of bringing laughter among the audience. Mehreen Pirzada was given the recognizable role to stand with the hero but her acting has failed to stay close to the expected level so does the role of Naveen Chandra, who played as the main antagonist in the movie. The music of Vivek-Mervin has managed to pour celebrations through 'Chill Bro' song while they presented ecstasy in their background music and the cameras of Om Prakash have played with colors during the first half while it does the best throughout the flashback whereas Prakash Mabbu has typically edited the movie of the usual story.

(L-R) Director Durai Senthilkumar and Dhanush - File photo

Director Durai Senthilkumar has, by keeping serious and somber aside, presented the movie of entertainment and the acting of Dhanush and Sneha and the ancient Tamil Martial Arts had sailed the movie to the shore. Overall, Dhanush's Pattas could have burst the celebrations than busting the expectations if it has been loaded with surprise, curiosity, and twists rather than with the easily predicting scenes and story and despite the expectations, this movie had added more burden for Dhanush.
