Dhoni is PM and Vijay is CM...How Vijay fans stirred controversy through poster politics?

Fanatics may go wrong sometimes and would shake the reputations of icons when their fans go to the extreme level of celebrating their icons, which in a way pull them into controversy. In Tamil Nadu, where poster politics is known for stirring furore and shockwaves, such controversies have become a pile as the fans of celebrities and supporters of political leaders would invite chaos in a bid to display their allegiance to their favourites. Actor Vijay has always been one such face with his ardent fans inviting him to electoral politics through posters.

While Vijay had also shown signs of political entry through his movies and through meeting the members of his outfit, he is yet to frame his politics to join the club of actors-turned-politicians. However, his fans haven't lost a moment when it comes to celebrate him and invite him to politics and in line with that, they had got yet another prospect of pulling Vijay into politics and this time, along with Indian cricket legend MS Dhoni. Recently, Vijay and MS Dhoni had a meet in Chennai when they both were in the same studio for shooting. While Vijay was in the shooting for his upcoming movie 'Beast', Dhoni was there to shoot for commercials. The shooting took place in Gokulam Studios in Chennai.

When Dhoni came to know that Vijay was in a neighbouring set, Dhoni has decided to meet him. Dhoni was seen wearing a Blue t-shirt while Vijay was in denim-ed attire. They exchanged greetings and hugged each other and enjoyed a tete-a-tete meeting inside the vanity van. It was their first meet in a decade and the last one was in 2008 when Vijay met Dhoni after being appointed as the brand ambassador of Chennai Super Kings. As they met for the first time in years, the fans had celebrated the moment. On Thursday, the pictures of their meet were released and ever since they came out, they had stormed the internet and gone super viral on social media.

While the pictures had relished the fans, the ardent fans of Vijay in the Madurai district had used the pictures as the prospect to call Vijay into politics. The fans had glued the posters in several parts of Madurai which stirred controversy. The posters pictured MS Dhoni and Vijay and called them the 'Kings who are going to rule'. Moreover, the Vijay fans had mentioned MS Dhoni as PM (Prime Minister) and Vijay as CM (Chief Minister). It was seen as a deliberate attempt to bring Vijay into politics and while such attempts were typical, it is the first such poster in recent times where MS Dhoni decorates it along with Vijay. The fans had also celebrated Vijay's birthday, which was marked recently, by calling him the future Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

The posters had drawn major attention across and beyond the state even as several fraternities had shared the pictures of MS Dhoni and Vijay's meet as the reunion was in the fashion of celebrating their friendship. MS Dhoni is one of the greatest Indian captains of all time and he was the doyen of Indian sports history and led the team that successfully won global trophies. Dhoni is also the captain of the Chennai Super Kings and he was last seen during the 14th edition of the IPL. Chennai Super Kings finished second in the points table in the 2021 IPL season when the tournament was suspended in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
