A disappointment and a sweet twist: Maanaadu hits big screens, finally...Fans celebrate Simbu's comeback!

For Simbu fans, Wednesday had presented disappointment and a sweet twist as they had nail-biting moments over the release of Maanaadu. The actor's much-awaited movie was initially scheduled to release on November 25 and hours ahead of the release - in the evening hours of Wednesday, the movie's producer threw a big shock on the court that the release has been postponed and the new release date will be announced later.

Simbu fans were perplexed by the announcement and expressed their disappointment over the sudden deferment, that came when they were all ready to unfold celebrations before the theatres the next day. The announcement of deferment has sent a message for Simbu fans that time has not come and they need to wait for more time to watch the movie. Maanaadu has been branded as a movie of Simbu's strong comeback and neither the fans nor the movie team thought that the moment of comeback would brace up a setback.

Maanadu producer announced the news on social media and his message gave a sense that he was equally disappointed. Taking to social media, producer Suresh Kamatchi said, "This (Maanaadu) has been a creation with a lot of dreams. I was awaiting its release like a pregnant woman awaiting to deliver her child. I announce with deep pain that Maanaadu release has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons. I will announce the release date later. I regret for the difficulty caused."

Hours after the announcement, when the fans ended up bracing another postponement, there was a sweet twist in a tale as the news made headlines with the affirmation that Maanaadu is going to release as planned - on November 25 in theatres. The fans didn't anticipate the twist and after hearing that the movie is finally going to release as scheduled, they had resumed their celebrations and got ready to give a massive reception for Simbu's comeback. The fans relished that the bad news had gone within hours and their favourite actor would have a crucial breakthrough.

Maanaadu director Venkat Prabhu took to Twitter on Wednesday and confirmed that the movie is going to release on Thursday - November 25. He wrote, "And our time starts again!! Maanaadu in a theatre near u!!! Enjoy!!! Thank q #strbloods #STRFans for the trust and thanks to one and all well-wishers from our industry who stood by us and making this release possible. Now our Maanaadu is all urs!!" Producer Suresh Kamatchi wrote, "Everything ok. Sry for the trouble the fans crossed. Now it's our time. God is great. Thanks to everyone who stood for me."

With the relish over the planned release, fans got ready to celebrate the movie with the early morning show and their desire had met with disappointment as the early morning show was cancelled and later, Tiruppur Subramaniam, the President of the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners and Multiplex Association, has officially announced that Maanaadu will be screened after 7.30 am. As announced, the movie was released and screened across and beyond the borders. The fans gave a grand welcome for the movie and unfolded huge celebrations across the state as Maanaadu is one of the first-in-line movies to get screened with 100% theatre occupancy.

The theatres in Chennai were overwhelmed with the fans as they rejoiced over Simbu's significant comeback and probably, Maanaadu will be Simbu's big movie post his physical transformation. The scale and size of celebrations in various parts of Tamil Nadu were similar to Chennai and fans have been throwing good reviews about the movie. For Maanaadu, the path for big screens had been difficult with episodes of setbacks and controversies and the release had been deferred multiple times due to Covid and it has also quit the Diwali race when it was expected to clash with Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Annaatthe'.

What twisted the tale?

Last month, the movie team had announced that Maanaadu will be released on November 25 and the producer said that the decision to quit the Diwali race was taken by keeping in mind various stakeholders including distributors who might face losses due to limited allotment of theatres. As the preparations were underway to release the movie, our sources say that Suresh Kamatchi has announced the postponement on Wednesday due to an issue with a financier, who financed the movie. The financier had demanded to clear the dues before the release of the movie.

Due to the setback, Suresh Kamatchi had announced that the movie release was deferred. However, on the other hand, the movie team, including Simbu and his family, had held talks with the financier to allay the dispute to get the movie to release as planned. The talks were underway on Wednesday evening and after hours-long negotiations, our sources say that they had reached a consensus and it was then decided to release the movie on November 25.

After the consensus was made with the financier, the movie team had officially announced that the movie will hit the screens as scheduled. However, theatres didn't get KDM (Key Delivery Message) for screening the movie early morning due to which the 5 AM show was cancelled and the cinema halls had then got ready to screen the movie after 7.30 AM. Maanaadu is a sci-fi thriller and will see Simbu in a never seen before avatar.

Bankrolled by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner of V House Productions, Maanaadu is directed by Venkat Prabhu. While Simbu plays the lead role, Kalyani Priyadarshan, SJ Suryah, Bharathiraja, SA Chandrasekhar, Karunakaran, Premgi Amaren, and Manoj Bharathiraja would play in important roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed music whereas Richard M Nathan and KL Praveen have done cinematography and editing respectively.
