DMK demands to make Udhayanidhi Stalin a minister...But, Seeman tosses a big challenge to Udhayanidhi!

As the DMK has been flaring up the demand to make Udhayanidhi Stalin a minister, Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) Chief Coordinator Seeman has tossed a big challenge to the former and asked whether Udhayanidhi would affirm he would not become a minister in the DMK's remaining tenure in power.

The MK Stalin-led DMK government has recently marked its first year in office and the party has been disseminating strong signals that Udhayanidhi Stalin would be elevated as the minister in his father, Chief Minister MK Stalin's cabinet. Currently, Udhayanidhi has been serving as the DMK MLA from the Chepauk-Triplicane constituency and also as the Secretary of DMK's Youth wing.

The demand for elevating Udhayanidhi has been growing within the party and earlier this week, the Trichy district DMK unit has adopted a resolution urging the party leadership to appoint Udhayanidhi Stalin as the minister. The executive committee meeting of the Trichy south district DMK has held on Monday - May 30 and the meeting was led by Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, who is also a close friend of Udhayanidhi Stalin.

In the meeting, the minister and the district level functionaries had discussed organizing a grand event to celebrate late DMK President Karunanidhi's 99th birth anniversary on June 3. DMK has planned to organize various events on the birth anniversary of the party's stalwart where the party will be providing welfare assistance across the state.

The meeting had the presence of senior district leaders and MLA of Trichy East, Inigo Irudhayaraj. Besides charting a plan to celebrate Karunanidhi's birthday, the meeting had also proposed a resolution urging the party leadership to appoint Udhayanidhi Stalin as a minister. The resolution was unanimously adopted as every participant in the meeting had backed Udhayanidhi's elevation as a minister. In Dindugal, a similar resolution has been passed to lift Udhayanidhi to the next level of politics.

The development has drawn major attention and several leaders are also planning to adopt such resolution in their districts. It has been reported that Udhayanidhi Stalin will most likely be appointed the minister this month and he will be awarded a key portfolio. As the voices within the DMK have been rampant in supporting Udhayanidhi Stalin as a minister, NTK's chief Seeman has challenged Udhayanidhi to whether he can say that he won't become a minister.

Speaking to the reporters in Poonamallee on Tuesday, Seeman has said that they (DMK) will definitely make Udhayanidhi a minister. He urged the DMK MLA to give assurance that he won't become a minister. Seeman's comments have come a day after Udhayanidhi had asked the party units to avoid passing resolutions to make him a minister. On Monday, Udhayanidhi has asked the party functionaries not to create an uncomfortable situation for the party leadership by passing a resolution to induct him into the cabinet because of the affection they have towards him.

In a statement, he said, "With the guidelines from the party's high command and leaders, I travel across the state to carry out the party work as a youth wing leader. The party and the leadership know when to make what decisions. So, don't create any embarrassment to the leadership of the party (by passing resolutions to make him a minister)."
