DMK MLA, the son of the senior party leader, has tested positive for COVID-19!

DMK MLA TRB Rajaa has, on Monday, tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection, becoming one of the dozens of legislators who had confirmed to have contracted to the global pandemic in the state. 

Rajaa is the son of DMK Treasurer and Lok Sabha MP TR Baalu and the former has been representing the Mannarkudi legislative constituency in Tiruvarur district in the current assembly. 

According to reports, 43-year-old Rajaa was confirmed to have contracted to the viral infection on Monday and he has isolated himself at his residence. It has been reported that all those who had come in direct contact with the legislator would be tested for the virus. Rajaa had issued conformity that he had tested positive through Twitter. 

He asserted that he has been doing fine. Taking to Twitter, one of the well known DMK legislators said, "Overwhelmed by all your love and wishes.Will continue to fight my way out of the infection with all your good wishes & love. Am feeling fine ..nothing out of the ordinary but for the weird feeling whilst not being able to smell my #coffee". 

 

So far, over dozens of legislators in Tamil Nadu from both the parties DMK and ADMK had tested positive for the viral infection including the state ministers. While DMK's J Anbalagan had become the first legislator in the country to die due to the pandemic after he succumbed on June 10, former MLA and senior leader of AMMK, P Vetrivel had died last week due to the novel coronavirus and the rest of the legislators have either been getting treated or got discharged.  

Along with the MLAs, some of the MPs had also spelled positive for the pandemic in the state of which Congress MP H Vasantha Kumar had died in August. Tamil Nadu has been one of the worst affected states in India and according to the state health department, Tamil Nadu has reported 6,87,400 positive cases so far as of Sunday of which 39,121 are active, 6,37,637 have been discharged, and 10,642 had succumbed to the viral infection.
