DMK vs ADMK: Who will win the Erode East bypoll? A look at the results of the opinion poll!

Erode East bypoll is just ten days away from now and as the political parties are counting days, the political bigshots in the state are crossing swords to win the race. The bypoll will be held on February 27 and the results will be declared on March 2. Though the DMK's ally Congress is contesting in the bypoll, the ruling DMK and the opposition ADMK wil be locking horns.

On the scorching campaign trail, the DMK ministers, Congress and ADMK leaders are touring the streets and wards of the bypoll where they are meeting the voters. As Chief Minister MK Stalin will be campaigning in the constituency in coming days, the opinion poll has now revealed that the DMK-led alliance holds an advantage in the bypoll.

The opinion poll was conducted by a democratic body led by the alumni of Loyola College, Chennai. A team of the body has met the voters in the Erode East constituency with a handful of questions and revealed how the voters' verdict would be. The result of the opinion poll was released on Tuesday- February 14. The opinion poll has divulged that the Congress party will win the race with a good voteshare while the ADMK would end up as a runner.

As per the opinion poll, the DMK-backed Congress party will secure from 42 to 49 per cent of votes while the ADMK will secure between 31 and 36 per cent of votes. Seeman's Naam Tamilar Katchi will bag between 6.90 to 10 per cent of votes while the rest of the parties including NOTA and DMDK will secure the remaining vote share. The officials of the body held a press conference on Tuesday during which the opinion poll was made public.

The Erode East bypoll was necessitated after the demise of Congress MLA Thirumahan Everaa, who died on January 4 at the age of 46 due to heart attack. The ruling DMK has awarded the seat to its ally Congress to contest again and the Congress has fielded former Union Minister and former Tamil Nadu Congress chief EVKS Elangovan as its candidate in the bypoll. Elangovan is the father of deceased MLA Thirumahan Everaa.

On the other hand, after internal political tussle, the ADMK had finally announced its candidate as its former MLA Thennarasu will be contesting in the bypoll. ADMK's ally BJP will also be campaigning in the bypoll later in the coming days. While the DMK and the ADMK are the major contenders in the race, several regional parties like DMDK and Naam Tamilar Katchi are also vying in the race.
