'Dont rejoice, We will not bow down': BJP leader Khushbu after getting arrested in Chennai!

Actor turned politician and BJP leader Khusbhu Sundar has, on Tuesday, got arrested in the outskirts of Chennai when she was on her way to protest against Thol. Thirumavalavan by alleging that the VCK Chief had made derogatory remarks against women, while he was addressing the webinar about Manu Dharma, which is the Hindu code of law.

The issue was centered on his webinar address. Last month, VCK Chief Thirumavalavan had addressed the webinar organized on 'Periyar and Indian Politics'. He spoke about how women were treated in Manu dharma, what it says about women and how they are oppressed. In the webinar, Thirumavalan can be heard saying that Manu dharma says women are created by God as prostitutes and as per Hindu dharma, all women are prostitutes.

However, a video of his speech in webinar without the referral and mention of Manu dharma has been widely circulated on social media sites in which many had voiced against the VCK leader for calling women as prostitutes. Tamil Nadu BJP unit and Hindutva leaders have been attacking the VCK Chief and they have been calling for protests against Thirumavalavan for his derogatory remarks against women.

Responding to the allegations, Thirumavalavan had said that he gave a 45 minutes speech. He stated that a few groups had edited out five minutes from his whole speech and these groups had claimed that he had demeaned women. He flayed Hindutva groups for making false claims for their political gains.

Last Saturday, VCK leaders had held protests in Chennai and demanded to ban Manu Dharma in the country by citing that the ancient book of laws has been dividing humans and demeaning women. Following VCK's protest, BJP had planned to organize a counter-protest against Thirumavalavan in his Lok Sabha constituency of Chidambaram. The protest was planned on Tuesday morning in Chidambaram. However, the police had denied permission for protests and issued strong orders to protesters.

However, Khushbu and her supporters had decided to defy the police orders and drove towards Chidambaram from Chennai on Tuesday morning. They were driving through the East Coast Road (ECR) and the police had stopped their vehicles in Muttukadu near Mamallapuram and took them under their custody for overruling the orders and to protest against the VCK Chief under the grounds that he had demeaned women. According to reports, Khushbu and her supporters have been detained and kept under custody in a private property in Kelambakkam on the outskirts of Chennai.

Following the arrest, Khushbu took to Twitter and said, "Cowards #VCK. Don't rejoice. It's your failure. Arrested bcoz they know we are a force to reckon with. We will not bow down. @BJP4India @narendramodi Ji shall take every step to ensure the respectability of every daughter of this soil. Darpoks VCK, respecting a woman is alien to you". "When your journey is cut short by force, you know you are on right track. I question @AIADMKOfficial n #CM of TN @EPSTamilNadu avl, why we are denied of our democratic right for a peaceful protest when other parties are given the permission to do the same? Why this partiality?", she added.
